  • Gonna sound a bit conspiracy-laden but bear with me. His rhetoric is entirely republican from top to bottom and his demographics are nearly identical to trump’s. He may be attempting to poach citizen citrus’s audience without earning his ire. Desantis has run afoul of trump by running against him and has been disparaged heavily by trump as a result, but running as a democrat defuses RFKjr in trump’s eyes. The worst Kennedy released a book full of crazy and made a fair sum of money off of it, and he may just want to continue his grift on a bigger crowd. Regardless, his choice to run as a democrat is bad for Biden.

  • The average billionaire lifestyle of extravagance creates about as much pollution as a business of reasonable size. Their year exceeds a hundred average lifetime carbon footprints. Thousands of lifetimes if you include construction’s environmental impact.

  • Tankies denying the existence of atrocities for the sake of political convenience is the reason this thread sprang up.

Tank man was never seen again. It’s assumed he was interrogated and killed or sent to live in a farm upstate full of comrades and comradettes where he could politically demonstrate and frolic his days away.

  • Just checked, invidious is still safe. Relatedly, I hate that every decision that pushed me away from youtube has also brought youtube closer to having positive cash flow. Enshitification flusters me.

  • Gonna sound weird but I recently learned that, and to be clear this was in passing and without actively searching for anything of the sort, there were recent advances in AI’s ability to create nude Asian women with the generic miss Korea pageant face and this could be an example.

  • God, please no. The FBI and assorted intelligence agencies took years to recover from the Trump-era employee scramble. I’ve had enough of “what if were unqualified,” I’m ready for “what if were overwhelmingly qualified?”

  • Everything after “my house” seems a bit superfluous. The memes below might as well be emojis or bright red arrows and circles pointing at snoop dogg’s 40x jpg compressed joke.

  • And I think the overwhelming majority of us are fine with that. Your response is equal parts facepalmingly ridiculous and nostalgic. I appreciate it in a way you probably won’t understand for a long while.

  • There were adblockers for Netscape but the esoteric process was uncommon for internet explorer. Look, if you want to understand why we’re all fine with the collapse of the internet into donation-based forums like this one, just check the history of the spread of tracking and malware through ad networks. This will get you started.

  • There were no adblocking extensions for early internet explorer so consider its share 0.

Adblocking increased at twice the rate of new internet users as a result of certain folks despising the idea of being tracked and/or hacked. If every adblock developer worth looking at weren’t also a security enthusiast, you might have a point.

I’ve spent 20 minutes looking up statistics for a dude who’s very obviously trolling or roleplaying and I hate that. You’ve won, I slightly burned my chicken au jus.

  • You have it backwards, Adblocking exploded after tracking became commonplace and invasive, and it has only gotten worse on that front. I get the vague impression you weren’t around for the days when malvertising was a chronic threat created exclusively by greedy companies without decent security controls. Bring back dumb ads and I’ll see them. I’m still going to block every form of JavaScript on your site that I can, but I’ll undoubtedly see your banner ads.
