Their traffic is unaffected. Reddit has never been part of the public conversation, outside of its reused content on blogs and autogenerated YouTube content. It has never had cultural relevance due to its conspicuously self contained nature, despite its size. Shops have closed but are reopening and profits are consistent(ly absent) month to month, the exodus affected little. If I were to amend your title, it would read “Reddit has always been a dying mall.”
You’ve described the situation as dramatically as possible to the crowd most excited to hear it and I’m just tired of hearing “Reddit is dying.” It is exhausting. The article is a great summary of everything I hate about Reddit because it is intended to be.

Sent an email to my local representative looking to improve things locally. No response, but I was signed up for several newsletters and campaign donation lists after that. Nearly as upsetting as the endless torrent of advertisements from the vet that put down my dog. No, I’m not in the market for heart worm medication anymore. Fuck that vet, and fuck my local rep.
I always remember Trump’s previous lawyer and fixer stating outright that Trump’s circle would drag each other down like crabs in boiling water. For a group of grotesquely flawed facsimiles of humanity, they lasted a long time.
See, that makes perfect sense to me. Satire is meant to be taken as a talking point in the overwhelming majority of cases. I’m happy when the message I put out is extrapolated on, but upset when the conversation immediately dies at “no, that’s a silly interpretation.”
I’ve noticed that over the top satire tends to be taken entirely at face value on lemmy. Doesn’t mean I’ll ever stop posting it, but I have noticed it. Also, demographics run much younger than most seem to believe.
