  • What a shitty, dishonest retort. The entire goal is to be allowed to talk about it so he can organize and gain allies so there's a chance to win, but you're just telling him to pointlessly suicide-by-cop.

It's not at all strategically comparable and it's dishonest rhetoric and it's cyberbullying. That's the kind of shit that ought to be banned!

  • Having shared assets to maintain is legitimate, but the vast majority of HOAs (those governing single-family neighborhoods) don't really have that as an excuse. Even if they do have something to maintain, like a private street or a pool, it's only because the local government was shirking its responsibility to provide what should have been public infrastructure.

(And that's why they're so common: because low-density development is so ruinously unsustainable, governments heavily encourage developers to establish HOAs so that the time bomb of future maintenance is the homeowners' problem instead of bankrupting the city.)

  • I've been using AMD (and ATi) for 20+ years. An Arc GPU is the first* Intel product I've actually been interested in and seriously considered getting, in all that time. I still ended up picking an AMD 9070 XT because there isn't an Arc card in that market segment, but maybe next time.

(* Other than a Chromebook I had to buy for college, which at the time didn't have any reasonable AMD options available.)

  • Flash was also cancer that ruined web pages.

The reason Java Web Start wasn't, was specifically because once you clicked on the link, it downloaded the app and started it as a real desktop application, with its own window and taskbar entry and whatnot. It didn't rely on being embedded in HTML (I'm specifically not talking about Java applets, BTW -- they sucked too) or manipulating the DOM for its UI; it could use Swing and have the same look and feel as a native application.
