  • I've posted this before, but maybe under current circumstances it could actually see some traction:

Imagine Canada Post starts Amazon-like storefront where Canadian businesses can sell their products while Canada Post sells something like prime where you pay a monthly/yearly fee for unlimited deliveries.

Turn Canada Post into a sort of highway that connects Canadian consumers to Canadian business anywhere in the country.

  • The fentanyl thing is the manufactured crisis he needs to circumvent CUSMA without congressional approval. What's really in his heart I couldn't say, but we could end the cross border drug trade entirely and it wouldn't change anything.

  • Because national control over the Canadian dollar gives us a lot of flexibility that adopting the Euro would take away. Particularly in a country that is about to have to attract new trading partners to buy our exports, the ability to devalue our dollar to make those exports more attractive is going to be important.

  • I'd rather not give up currency sovereignty. Closer economic and military ties, sure, but not full membership. There's also the reality that some of the most powerful economies in the EU in Germany and France are flirting with their own neo-fascist movements.

  • The US Supreme Court ruled that laws don't apply to the President. All these articles talking about Trump breaking the law are falling victim to normalcy bias, a normal that died July 1, 2024. A referee isn't going to descend from the heavens to put Trump in the penalty box. If you don't like what's happening you won't be able to appeal to law to help you. Think of something else.

  • You thought wrong.

Foreign home ownership makes up a relatively small part of our housing market. Focus on it is mostly a misdirection from the real causes of our cost-of-living problem which is home grown housing speculation and lack of investment in social housing. And even were foreign home ownership occurring at a problematic rate, that's nothing in comparison to annexation of a country.

  • The US is banning TikTok due to fears of interference by the Chinese government. How does this same reasoning not apply to Twitter for every country outside of the US? The US's long history of not interfering in foreign states' politics? (ha)
