Great post. It seems like a lot of people aren't used to using the product of community efforts over commercial efforts and their expectations and feeling of entitlement match that experience. Like they've bought a product and want to complain to the manager when they experience a problem.

I will bang the drum for social housing every time. The housing crisis is a solved problem, we just need the will to bring that solution here. Vienna, Austria, is the most livable city in the world and it has achieved this through extensive social housing where the majority of residents in the city live in it.

Burnaby, BC has recently created a municipal housing authority tasked with creating housing like this. I am very interested in moving there as a result.

Not everyone fell for the lies. It's a re-writing of history to suggest that everyone was all aboard with the war in Iraq. That war was preceded by the largest protests ever to occur up until that point. I personally recall Hans Blix, the UN official responsible for weapons inspections in Iraq at that time, repeatedly telling us that there was no evidence of such weapons programs. The New York Times should presumably be at least as questioning as my, at the time, 18 year old self. Particularly since I turned out to be right.

This event has set alarm bells off in the Biden administration. He absolutely needs Michigan to win. It's not an accident Biden is suddenly talking about ceasefires and dropping aid a couple days after this.

That feels like a massive overreach to me.
