  • Do they have any idea who’s perpetrating the attack?

  • I think the nail in the coffin is really gonna be Michael Cohen‘s testimony. Maga world made such a big deal of calling him a liar, but the trial made it very clear that he was Trump’s liar. He lied for Trump, and the evidence corroborates that, as do the witnesses that the defense called.

  • some criminals are aided by the fact that they're so ass-ugly, nobody can stand to look at them for long enough to recognize them from a wanted poster. just a split-second to notice that everything above the neck looks like an exploded baby's diaper, and you're staring at the floor.

  • I wish these people understood shame.

if he did, he'd never have become a cop

  • french is such a headache, but, then again, so is english. it's just that english is more forgiving when you mess up, lol

but, yeah... 'ce' is (iirc) a more formal declarative when speaking generally to an audience rather than when speaking conversationally with another person.

eventually, a native french speaker is going to come in and admonish the both of us for manglish their language, lol

  • "oops!"

    -- Israeli officials

  • I think ce Is formal, so I use it in that context?

  • other than the constant, high-pitched "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" i've heard for the last 30 years?

  • hwo long until they call this one an "oopsie-daisey"?

  • Ce n'est pas un mème. Ce sont mes sentiments!

  • It doesn’t matter what word he used, he was using it in an anti LGBT sentiment.

i think it does matter wrt what he actually said or intended to say. whether he's being homophobic in his position regard gay clergy isn't a matter of debate: he is.

the issue is that he claims not to have intended to use an offensive term, and apologizes for the offense cause by the term. That i'm willing to believe. i'm not debating his gay clergy policy, which i obviously agree is bigoted.

  • sorry, i don't agree. you can believe what you want, however we can't really know... and i'm not convinced.

edit: to clarify: i do believe his position about gay priests is homophobic. i just don't believe that he intentionally meant to use a slur while discussing it, and am willing to believe the "old man slip-up" excuse. it's hair-splitting, i know.

  • Is that his position? I didn’t see that part in the article.

edit: ok, i see that now

  • I don’t think we can know what he intended. We can make an assumption based off his past actions, and I’m inclined to believe this explanation. Italian isn’t his first language, he’s old, and I think it’s a likely explanation that he slipped up and made an old man mistake.

  • “They used facts and wouldn’t let Trump lie in his own defense! SHAM TRIAL!!”

  • All things considered, I am. He’s old, Italian isn’t his first language, and he has a history of progressive changes in favor of the lgbtq+ community. I’m more inclined to believe it was a mistake than to think it was intentional or malicious. Especially given how quickly an apology has been issued.
