"1 in 10 residents" does not refer to a person but a proportion of people, which is a plurality of people. Change it to "10% of residents" and it's clear that 'are"is more gooder.
If you want to super expand it...
A proportion of 1 in 10 residents are...
Or
Proportionally 1 in 10 residents are...
Aaand also...
"are" acts on "residents", not "1 in 10". "1 in 10" is an adjective phrase. Residents is the noun.
Boss gets fired for blowing $15M on cloud platform per year for several years. New boss comes in and demands an audit. Turns out there's waste everywhere. New boss says reduce cost or else. New boss calls a meeting a month later to review cost savings plan. Platform owner proceeds to provide a presentation outlining how the platform costs will rise by 20% next year and at least 10% every year after for several years. Platform owner gets fired. Complains no one listens to him.
It's literally happened before. Recently australia killed all animals at shelters due to covid. China killed all pets in cities during covid. There are other examples before covid.
Leader embezzles millions and people are still clamoring to support that garbage organization. They definitely picked a great name to scam people with.
I'd really like a vintage Rolex at some point. I just like them. A friend gifted me a broken Breitling. I ended up getting it repaired for $200. I love it. I'm not a fancy watch guy but I really appreciate them. The Breitling I wear a few times per month. I could see getting an omega at some point too.
The Tissot is my daily work watch. Classy. Professional. I dress up a bit more than most but I like the look. The watch totally ties it all together, unlike some silly apple watch.
G Shock is my weekend / outdoor watch. I love how sturdy it is. I've got a few odd ball fun watches that come out occasionally too.
The machines ALWAYS bitch about not putting something in the bag or putting something in the bag not scanned. The system is too slow. I hate how slow I have to scan stuff.
It seems to me like WF is trying to avoid a bud light situation. Employees wearing BLM stuff will certainly put off a lot of people in many areas. So it's about not alienating a big portion of their customers, which would be a significant hit to sales.
Anyway, I find it odd to some extent that a business was not allowed, possibly, to limit what employees wear, especially if they interact with customers. A key tenant of sales and customer service is to make the person feel respected and to take an interest (fake if nothing else) in the customer.
My G Shock is super reliable and will never need a battery. No way I'm swapping it out for some fragile piece of junk screen that mostly displays a clock that dies every few days.
Most. Certainly the USA... Add up all personal taxes paid for income from city to county to state to federal. Don't forget to add FICA - Medicare, social security (and the self employed additional amount), and any extras that may apply.
Quick math... A developer in CA bringing in 250k/yr (gross) is hitting the 35% fed bracket. Total effective tax just to the fed is almost 23%. State tax same shit effective tax rate is about 8%. City tax may apply, adding 1% or so. OASDI is 6.2%. Medicare adds 1.45%. But self employed so double those. And oops, you make too much so 0.9% Medicare additional tax..... Add all that and it's over 46%.
The company I work for was nice enough to give me a 5% COL increase last year. Groceries are 50% higher. Gas 25%. Insurance 20%. Clothing is definitely at least 10%. Restaurants about 20%.
But yeah.... My "real" wage is higher.
I'm guessing you also believe in Keynesian economics.
