  • Doesn't that point to voter apathy and not towards voter disapproval of Trump? Yes, he didn't get a majority of eligible voters, but neither does any candidate in Canada.

Most of us just don't vote at all, so candidates often win with ~35% of the vote. That doesn't mean there's any sort of significant mass disapproval of any particular candidate, it just means that voters recognize that FPTP systems result in specific outcomes that disincentivize voting (because a significant number of votes don't elect anybody).

  • Canada is the same, it happens a lot more than we're ready to admit. Though it's certainly not something you hear about every day and most people think it's gross, it's still legal...

At least she's nice and her parents are involved in her life. Hopefully they won't have kids so this relationship can just be something she sees as a stupid mistake in the future.

(My wife was with a guy who was 40+ when she was 17/18 and she has regrets; he's even apologized and admitted it wasn't healthy for either of them.)

  • Hey, I remember one of your other posts where you were asking about nursing & autism. Unfortunately, it seems like you just have to suck it up for now as she is obviously your senior.

You could bring it up with her and ask if there's some sort of give and take you could negotiate (since you seem to be doing some of the tasks she would otherwise normally perform), but I would seriously advise you to work on how you want to phrase it because you've had issues with this in the past.

I also think it's a bit judgemental of you to criticize a 60+ year-old person for being slow and fat. When you're 60 you will be slow and you may also be fat, but you'll have decades more experience.

  • When you're renovating a structure, often the existing circuits and piping systems (for which you've suggested channels) must be relocated or modified. Since the channels are created by additive manufacturing, you can't relocate or significantly modify them without cutting them away.

When you fill a space with expanding foam insulation, it fully encapsulates the wiring and piping. Often you can't actually see them anymore and you may not even be able to tell they're there. If you wanted to move something, you have to cut open the foam and dig it out. There will be foam everywhere and it will take hours to get all of the foam off.

It would be much, much, much easier to not use channels and to use the tried-and-true method of evenly spaced studs/compartments and filling the spaces with fiberglass insulation. Foam is such a headache in electrical that my former boss refused to work on new builds and renovations that used it.

  • Notwithstanding how illegal it is, of course. It's almost funny how bad PP is at looking relatable when speaking publicly, he talks like a tiny baby who's upset that he has to share his toys. Serious loser energy.

Imagine needing a different slogan every day just to remind people that you're not only full of hate, you are also stupid, uncreative, and inflexible.

  • I don't know where you live, but where I live you have to give 60 days' notice to end a month-to-month tenancy.

If this is the case where you live too, they knew that and are probably intentionally trying to trap you for 60 more days. You may not actually have the right to end your tenancy at the end of May.

  • It's also an embarrassing testament to how low-budget this project must be, because any fucking engineer or technician with even a taste of the HVAC industry is aware that a system that passively recycles already heated or cooled water is one of the easiest/cheapest ways to solve the overheating problem.

  • Wow, that's a weird play. Japan has its back to the wall, I guess. This decision probably won't work out, though; Trump is going to see it as weakness and will ask for even more.

  • Honestly, pressuring someone into a purchase is how they start to think that maybe your products aren't worth their perceived value. Otherwise, why the hard sell?

Art of the deal, my ass. I wonder if he can even feel embarrassment or if he simply hides it behind his "masterful leader" persona.

  • No, it's not just developing countries on older hardware

I was talking about Counter Strike specifically, because you used it as an example.

    Microsoft doesn't own Windows

They literally do. Look it up. Windows is developed and maintained by Microsoft. They own all trademarks and intellectual property related to Windows.

Valve runs steam as a gig economy app, there are very few guardrails and instead very strong algorithmic discoverability management tools. Steam has shovelware for the same reason Google Play has shovelware, Steam is just WAY better at surfacing things specifically to gamers.

I never disputed this, but you are arguing that PC games are all shit for some reason or another unless they're ported either from or to PS5.

Incidentally, most of these new games support controllers because the newly standardized Xinput just works.

Newly standardized? Xinput was created in 2005. It has "just worked" for ages, because it is officially supported by Microsoft through Windows. Because they own Xbox, Xinput, and Windows.

Valve has a whole extra controller translation layer because everything else kinda doesn't and they wanted full compatibility

So that they can support other controllers that aren't Xbox...

You're talking out of your ass here and not even paying attention to context which you yourself brought up. Not to mention you aren't even aware of why Xbox had such stellar support (Microsoft is one of the largest tech companies in the world and own the PC OS with the largest market share by a longshot) and how that support translated to the modern rise of PC gaming.
