  • Wait, it won't? You're telling me all this time we could've just cut the power cord to Death Star and the Empire would become powerless?

  • Return on investment in just 37,561 years, start building today!

  • I thought that's the is/am/are (I forgot the term for these)

  • I recently purchased a copy of Ardour, and I have noticed that, but I have found most basic plugins can be found for free.

That's true. In fact, Arch linux even has a handy package (pro-audio) that installs every plugin you'll need at once. Still, some people might prefer to have plugins built-in or it might be too much hassle for them to look for every plugin from outside (it certainly was for me when I was starting out)

  • Oh dang it. Hopefully they'll improve the performance in poor connectivity, since it's basically unusable for me without it :/

  • The SIP part looks nice, I hadn't checked it out yet. Thanks!

  • That was my main intent for Jami as well; I like the idea and want to support it, but it will serve no purpose for me (at least currebtly). Never heard of Jitsi before, so thanks for that too :)

  • I don't know the language either, and any guess I make will come off as North-India chauvinist XD maybe someone else here who knows the script will point it out

  • For those who don't know, adrak = ginger and elaichi = cardamom in hindi (just to point out how smart the abbreviation is)

  • I'm not sure about LMMS as I never got to try it, but I've had it strongly recommended a few times so I figured it would work here too. The only issue I have with Ardour is that all plugins need to be installed separately (assuming OP hasn't installed them already). I also came across Stargate recently, and it seemed just fine after looking around. I can't say if it would be enough for OP, but nothing wrong with more options :)

    1. Strairdrac is three crabs in a trenchcoat, now teaching others of his kind how to blend in with humans
  • If Audacity is not enough for you, you might want to try DAWs instead. Maybe try LMMS or Ardour (plugins need to be installed separately) for those should provide all the features you may be looking for

  • Successfully completed the 3 day no-poop challenge?

  • Genuinely curious about this one, what function are you assuming when using the limit approach to evaluate? I presume it is f(x) = x, but then it would not have a discontinuity at 1. Or is the point that whether 0.999... = 1 or not depends on the implicit function in the context (in which case, limits wouldn't disprove the argument but rather add nuance to it)?

  • They gotta sell it somehow. "Meta's own Twitter" only worked for so long, so maybe this is part of a rebranding effort (or maybe a simple typo, who knows)

  • For your first point, I'd just like to add that the scientists didn't give conservative estimates to stay clear of conspiracy theorists, but to stay clear of criticisms of fellow scientists. If there's insufficient data to back up the claims a researcher makes, you can bet the other researchers will always beat the conspiracy theorists in calling out the bullshit.

  • No thanks, any time the big companies come up with a new porn movie, it always ends up with the consumers getting pegged

  • I guess that depends on what you were testing. If you were changing your email ID on one of your social media or other accounts, then it may become a bit of an issue, as compared to just sending yourself an email from your gmail account

  • Sheesh! I mean, I did get a token around 100k when I signed up, but they definitely need a better way of screening if it takes an average user more than a year to get through the screening :/

  • Yeah if they had a way of trivially adding the bridges to any other matrix client (on android, that is), that'd make things super convenient.

Making the work easier for casual folks is all I'm in for in the case of Beeper. I mean, I could manually set everything up, but I'd rather support methods that make it easier for everyone else to access the fediverse more easily.
