  • Hamas has repeatedly made clear that it will support the establishment of a Palestinian state limited to the 22 percent of the mandate of Palestine that would be represented by the 1967 borders, provided that such a settlement is approved by a majority of Palestinians in a referendum.

But go on, spread your misinformation.

  • The so-called democratic parties are trying to do that. They're now in favor of:

    • More border security so Frontex can drown even more migrants in the Mediterranean.
    • Detaining the ones who make it over in concentration camps.
    • Making it easier to deport people.
    • Criminalizing Muslims for supporting Palestine.

These "democrats" are doing all this hate-speech, Hetze, and blatant violations of human rights. They took these policies directly from the far-right, and now pretend to fucking oppose the AfD? Fucking hypocritical assholes.

It won't work either, because none of that has anything to do with people's economic prospects, which is the real reason most of them are angry. So they're still going to be angry with whoever is in power, no matter how many foreigners they deport and murder and scapegoat.

  • Then again, the CCP has never ruled Taiwan either…

Oh yeah that's like exactly the same situation.

    1. Send US military to "protect" one side in the Chinese civil war and occupy parts of China.
    2. Say you're in favor of eventual peaceful reunification, but actually prevent it for decades.
    3. Break promise and claim the territory was never really part of China to begin with.
    4. Pretend you're the victim and China is "expansionist".
    5. World War 3?
  • but maybe the thing to do is to find some sympathetic group, arm them, and let them take the heat

Hmm. I wonder if anyone has tried that yet?

Sympathetic guys armed by the US to fuck with Iran include Saddam Hussein, ISIS and Israel.

  • There was a proposal to let them leave, but for whatever reason that wasn't agreed upon. So the separatists kept attacking and Ukraine mounted a rescue mission. They should have cleared up what to do about it in the agreement, but they didn't.

Your point was that it was the Russians/separatists fault that Minsk II failed, because of Debaltseve, but I don't think that's fair. The Debaltseve issue, and the fact that it wasn't addressed in the agreement, was, even at the time, in Western media and in Russia, criticized. After Ukraine broke out and Debaltseve was captured, fighting was massively reduced even there, and heavy weaponry was pull backed from the front line, so that wasn't the thing that sank Minsk II.

  • The Ukrainian troops in Debaltseve were encircled when Minsk II was signed. The separatists and Putin already basically said they weren't going to let this one go, but I guess everybody pretended they didn't hear that and so they just did not mention it in the agreement.

This is a problem right? No side wants to give up land. If the fighting had stopped there, that would have created a little exclave full of starving Ukrainian soldiers. How do you deal with this exactly, without talking about it? One side has to give in. Either Ukraine withdraws or the separatists withdraw from the encirclement. Since the separatists were winning there already, they forced the Ukrainians out.

Fighting did die down everywhere else, and there as well once the Ukrainian troops broke out. I guess the Ukrainians were hoping they would get to keep it if they hold on to it by their fingernails. In any case, this isn't the main reason the agreement tanked.

  • The Saudi coalition (including the US; the US navy even directly took part in the blockade) has waged war on Ansarallah for years, and created an artificial famine that killed hundreds of thousands, mostly children. The US is waging an illegal war of aggression and genocide on the people of Yemen. They don't need a UN resolution to have the right to defend themselves.

  • All the liberal parties took a hard right turn on immigration recently. They're now advocating stuff that used to be far-right only a couple of years ago. If this anything to go on, they'll do mass deportations probably next year, whether the AfD is in power or not.

  • But that's fine, embrace the end! Rome was a slave society with incredible wealth disparity. They massacred people for entertainment. They conscripted guys for like 20 years to plunder and collect taxes that went mostly to the very top, the richest of families. Good riddance.

  • Who is arguing that Israel fighting back is wrong?

Most of the world thinks that. They would also take issue with you characterizing what Israel is doing as "fighting back" and "self defense". Self-defense is when you steal land, ethnically cleanse the inhabitants, force them into a small area, then besiege them there for decades, and then blow the whole place up. Because some of them dared take up arms and broke out. You know, self defense!
