  • My friend is an HVAC guy and spends a lot of his days in the basement of high rises with no service. He gets home and has 2 kids to take care of and by the time he's done, physical labor has taken its toll and he's too sleepy to do much besides watch a comedy special before bed.

I have WFH computer job so I get to stay informed but it feels like the average American just doesn't have time to keep up with the insanity of modern politics.

  • I'm saying ruling out an employer because someone convinced HR to that the AI for filtering candidates is a good idea is A bad move because of how prevalent it is. You're locking yourself out of potentially good employment unless you work in tech.

And I'm also saying that it's a green flag if a company says "resumes clearly written by chatgpt will be ignored" because it means they give a shit about the content of it

  • Juggalos are a subculture of people who feel ostracized and such, are generally VERY welcoming to people deemed "lesser" by the world. It's a community that celebrates being yourself. If you're not hurting anyone, you do you!

I think it's kind of beautiful even though the music is not for me.

  • I fucking hated that segment.

That shitty host is like "WOW GET A LOAD OF THESE FREAKS" the whole time while the freaks are being welcoming and nice.

I know it's the dudes schtick to be the sassy, judgemental gay guy but those juggalos but he was desperately trying to make them the butt of the joke and it didn't work. He looked like a total asshole, it was like listening to a Mean Girl bully the nicest kids in class.

The only part he wasn't an obnoxious douchebag was during the sit-down interview.

  • Man, fuck off with that attitude. This isn't like Biden trying to score points on his way out or the Trump report getting released, the FTC did a ton of good shit the past few years and stuff takes time. They're rushing all this at the last minute because they have to.

The more they push through, the more time the next admin has to spend dealing with it. I'm sure they know a ton of it will get rolled back but...all of it? Maybe not. Inundating them is all they can do now.

I would have liked to see this sooner but most (all?) of the other issues they tackled were more important than this one

  • I loved Cee-Lo until his cover of it at [some event I forgot]. He changed "and no religion" to "and all religions" which...just totally butchers the meaning of the song. It's about a world where people are good to each other just because

I'm not an angry atheist but that really, really bugged me. Really spitting on his grave.

  • I didn't think it was ugly until I saw one in person and walked around it myself... Something about it feels so wrong, like they dressed up a junker with big metal panels for a 90s sci-fi prop. It's unnecessarily bulky.

I'm big on the form-follows-function mindset of beauty for stuff like cars and this one seems like Elmo's son drew a car in markers and he said "FIT A VEHICLE IN THIS SHAPE"

Actually, my main takeaway wasn't "this thing is ugly" - it was "this thing looks fuckin dangerous"

  • It's an interesting situation to me because I really don't know where I stand on it. I'm pretty against government overreach but it's proven time and time again that we live amongst morons who think they know best...

I guess the "political climate" lately has me on edge but I really do think I'll see a civilian-flown drone accidentally cause an aviation catastrophe in my lifetime.

  • I think so? I don't fly commercially (I have a racing and "indoor" drone) so I'm not sure.

And yeah, it's a felony. But a felony doesn't undo the damage.

I'm not advocating either way, I see both sides of the argument as having good points
