  • Not what they pointed out though. It's just the usual, mindless big corp rant you can't escape on here.

Existing Prime users got all this content without additional charges for years, that's what I meant when I said free but you probably know that. If you think that's a sustainable way to keep producing content for billions of dollars, it's very naive imo.

But feel free to point out what would have been a better strategy and maybe actually start a discussion

  • I don't like Meta for a lot of reasons but without them VR would probably be fucking dead by now. Yes, Zucks Metaverse is absolute garbage but the stuff Reality Labs is doing thanks to Metas funding is absolutely amazing.

I gave up on VR for years after buying a Rift in 2017 because it was a janky, horrible to set up, tethered, nausea inducing mess that i paid what, 700 bucks for?

Recently got a used Quest 2 for 200 bucks and it's fucking amazing. Completely wireless, hand tracking, much better clarity and i can stay in VR for hours without feeling sick.

I wish they would push high quality content a bit more like they used to instead of their shitty Horizon stuff but if it wasn't for the millions of headsets they sold, no one would be able to develop shit right now for VR.

To say they ruined VR is absolutely delusional imo, sorry.

  • Haven't played a single assassin's creed game in like a decade but gotta say this looks like a lot of fun. Hope they do a PSVR and PCVR version, though. The graphics in the trailer look really impressive for a Quest title but i'm guessing the Quest 2 version isn't going to be very enjoyable.

  • Prime Video isn't profitable and they need it to be. They included it with Prime to build a user base but they were always going to charge or make you watch ads after that. And that's perfectly fine because running a service that's never going to make any money is fucking stupid.

If you don't like it, don't pay but stop with that "big corp makes enough money so keep giving me shit for free" bullshit.

Would love to read your pitch for a streaming service that doesn't charge money and doesn't show any ads though

  • I disagree. Those prices are pretty typical for most (proper) german restaurants and i would even say some of it is on the more affordable side. Also, while tipping culture isn't what it is in the US, giving less than 10% will make the waiter almost certainly hate you.

That's no excuse for that outrageous "service fee", of course.
