  • This worked, thank you!

  • I get "Could not find a suitable release" when I try to add it to Obtainium on my Pixel 7 Pro

  • You download and install the APK file. When prompted to allow your browser to allow installation from unknown sources, you grant the permission.

  • On Beta and Nightly it does, as well as forks like Fennec FDroid and Mull.

  • I have a Pixel phone, but I don't use a custom ROM on it. I still depend on some Google services and apps for school and work.

I use NextDNS to block ads system-wide so I would probably stick with Vanadium instead of Cromite just to save memory. However, I would still use either Mull or Fennec F-droid as my main browser on mobile.

    1. Chromium based (which may be a pro or con depending on who you ask).
    2. Their CEO has made homophobic political donations and resigned from Mozilla due to backlash for it.
    3. They have been caught doing shady things like inserting affiliate links into the address bar suggestions.
    4. They use their browser to push their crypto currency, news and other garbage.
  • I don't think it would make F-Droid itself more secure, but it's best to get possible security updates for apps sooner with auto-updates.

  • Neo Store can enable automatic updates for apps downloaded from F-Droid.

  • How can a Twitter be an X? it was born a biological bird, not a letter

  • Why are geriatric patients who can't open a pdf trying to make laws about the internet?

  • Not really, since Google develops Chromium.

FireFox receives most of their funding from Google, even though they've come out as opposing this plan. They have next to no market share.

The only other browser engine that can seriously compete with Chromium is Safari.

  • My instance defederated 🤷‍♀️

    1. Cromite is an improvement to Bromite, so yes.
    2. There are some things here or there that could be added, but it seems like a good browser for now.
    3. The current developer has worked on Bromite in the past, so if you trusted Bromite I don't see a reason not to trust Cromite.
    4. It's not listed because it was just released and I believe it was mentioned on Privacy Guides forums that the team is looking into it and may consider adding it to the recommended tools at some point.
    5. Yes, I currently use Cromite as a back-up browser and Mull as my main browser.

Vanadium is built specifically for security. It lacks privacy features such as an ad blocker. It is also only available on GrapheneOS. Cromite seems much easier to recommend from a privacy stand point as the use case for Vanadium is very specific.

  • AOC is a Progressive, not a revolutionary socialist. The same is true for Bernie. She wasn't going to be able to do anything besides shift the Democratic party slightly to the left.

Of course she is going to endorse Biden for President, there isn't anyone competent running against him on the Democratic side. A third party candidate is unlikely to win and would take votes away from Biden, strengthening Trump.

  • I am not certain, but Mull still has functionality with FireFox sync, which might be a reason why it has a tracker.
