  • Taxes aren't the only major economics issue. Trump opposed NAFTA which was big in regards to the working class vote. Biden and the Democrats failed to support the rail workers last year who threatened to strike over paid sick leave. Obviously Trump's camp is wrong on this and will make a terrible administration but Democrats are not exactly as pro-labor as they could be either.

  • censor channels that go against globalism

    Such as...?

  • Yes, if advertisers start pulling out then I could see something changing. But advertisers are unlikely to do that unless they stop making money from it as well. So a campaign like that sounds like a good idea but also will be very difficult to succeed

  • They could pay more staff to moderate, or use their fancy AI that they like so much.

You might think it is unethical to silence different opinions which is a valid position. But on the other hand I see it as unethical to host dangerous misinformation and hateful content.

YouTube is essentially a monopoly and there isn't any realistic alternative for most people, so it's not like they have to worry about backlash so much. That's a whole 'nother issue though

  • Google/YouTube doesn't care. If they can put ads on it and make money they will leave it up.

They will run ads for whoever pays them including hate groups like the Heritage Foundation

  • Possibly because it is not open source and doesn't have anything to offer that the other recommendations do not.

  • You can view "Brave ads" in exchange for crypto. That is what I meant by replacing ads.

  • How is allowing the death of school children a solution to climate change? Do you believe that they will all grow up to be Fossil Fuel Executives?

  • trustworthy

They are recommended on privacy guides: https://www.privacyguides.org/en/search-engines/#brave-search I generally trust privacy guides, although I don't use Brave Search.

    CEO

Their CEO is anti-vax and homophobic. Brave Browser (not search) has had some controversy around including crypto, replacing ads with their own, and having had inserted affiliate links into the URL bar in the past.

    censor stuff

Hard to say, the job of a search engine is to show you what you want to find.

    data collection

There is telemetry that can be turned off.

  • That is what I do, however it is very tedious when you want to listen to full albums, and add info to the file such as the album art and artist. Services like Spotify also sync your Library and playlist automatically across devices.

  • "Socialism" in the form of government regulations and healthcare is popular. Not so much Marxism or proleterian revolution

  • It is more than just cruel. It is abusive and genocidal. LGBT youth will die because of this law and the countless others being passed in certain states.

  • As someone else in the thread mentioned, it is depersonalizing. The word female is used mainly in medical, scientific, or legal contexts. It can sound awkward or jarring when used outside of that, even when technically correct. The word woman could be used instead. Did the person in the OP deserve a permanent ban for it? Probably not

  • I agree, but also I don't see the harm in reporting on how corporations using AI is hurting artists or writers.

  • When a company does something controversial, it becomes news.

  • People care because it means that Niantic did not pay an artist to create the image.

  • Works fine on desktop here, on mobile I just use Newpipe

  • If the US were truly democratic, the "Republican" fascist party would be a fringe minority.

They didn't perform as well as expected at the federal level in 2022, and have only become more extreme since then.

Hopefully soon the old fucks will wither away and die and the young ones will be shoved away in prison where they belong.
