  • Biden’s primary problem was that he could not comprehend where the criticism was coming from and would re-frame it in such a way as to absolve responsibility.

Because he has the mind of an 80 year old...

Everyone around him was either taking advantage of him or complicit in what was happening.

We can't keep pretending the normal biological effects of aging aren't real. And because the way it affects, we're usually the last ones to notice it's happening.

Other people have to be able to make the call. It doesn't matter if it's polite, sometimes grandpa doesn't get to keep the car keys.

  • Even just a primary...

Your pick comes in second place, if you get the one from your own party that made it to the general, your first pick is now guaranteed the office.

Like, great sentiment, but I think the reason it works in the UK, is 99.99% of the population can't get a high powered rifle in an afternoon.

  • … Isn’t wanting to kill someone with vastly different views more common than wanting to kill someone with only slightly different views?

Literally two Republicans tried to kill the Republican presidential candidate in the last year...

You really can't imagine a world where someone believes the candidate from their party is either too extreme or not extreme enough on a wedge issue that they'd try to kill them to guarantee someone else from the same party wins?

    Like...

I overestimate people, I can admit that

But do you legitimately just not understand why this is bad?

  • It lets people know violence cannot change the balance of power

    No it doesn't.

Say you support party A, which politician B is a member of. Politician B doesn't agree exactly with you though. And you don't like that.

So if you merc the candidate you don't agree with for the party you support, their runner up (who you preferred anyways) runs unopposed and is guaranteed to win even if everyone hates them.

Even if it's not intentional, just handing the election off is incredibly fucked up.

Why the fuck would anyone support this after understanding what it means?

    Quick edit:

In the last American election, two different Republicans tried to kill the Republican candidate.

And that wouldn't have even handed it to Vance they just wanted to do it.

This isn't a hypothetical, people kill politicians from their preferred party already, this would make political violence more common if there was any effect

  • There's a nonzero chance they know what it takes to get a trump pardon...

Which trump would be very smart to do in this case because then other trumpets who have a detained family member are more likely to double down hoping it works.

Vance would be smart enough to do that, Trump's a fucking idiot and wont

  • However, the target can also see you.

    Not really...

If you knew what you were doing you could look anywhere

If you were a fool of a Took you just turned on a giant beacon that everyone who knew what they were doing and had their own immediately looked at.

Think of it like how some people "look for aliens" by beaming out a giant "hey, look at me! I don't know what I'm doing!" Signal to anyone who can hear.

That's what happened in LOTR. Then others used their own crystal balls to look at where the signal was and saw Pippen.

    And from your link:

Interviews with a dozen DNC members revealed deep frustration with Martin and concern about his ability to unify and lead a party trying to recover from massive electoral losses in 2024.

There's a lot more than a dozen DNC members who hate him...

He literally just got two super delegates from the Rules and Bylaws committee to resign...

    https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/dnc-union-leaders-leave/

They were literally the ones fucking with presidential primaries, and now they're no longer part of the DNC in any capacity...

Like, if you agree that past iterations of the DNC were giant pieces of shit, how are you surprised that there's still some DNC members from that period who are pissed they're no longer in control?

Logically this is a good thing that some are mad at Ken and completely leaving the party.

    This is what we wanted.

The issue is billionaire owned media didn't want this, so they're presenting it backwards.

And people are falling for it

  • What do they have to do with the DNC?

Like, you understand there's the DNC, and then every state has their own state party, then I'm pretty sure the terrorities have them too

If your point is some people with Ds by their name are pieces of shit and need to be replaced, you're preaching to the choir director buddy.

But Martin is the DNC chair, and he hasn't said a single bad thing about Mamdani that I'm aware of.

  • Just look at the reaction to the NYC mayor race

    Where?

The only thing I've seen is Martin told some donors that progressives can't win every district...

    Which, is obviously true

The example he used was Minnesota where one district wants Illhan Omar and another wants some shitty moderate.

But Martin is going to run national DNC like Minnesota.

    1. Stay out of the primary
    2. Support anyone with a D in the general

It's on voters to get progressives to the general, so vote in the primary and get as many people as you can to do so as well

  • Democrats are still attacking Mamdani

Some elected politicians with a D by their name are.

And frankly I don't think they'll be in office much longer.

Like, as an American who has been paying attention since the DNC defended Bill lying about getting a BJ from an intern:

This is the most optimistic I've been about the Dem party except for the brief window between Obama winning the 08 election, and then him saying he wouldn't name a DNC chair.

I can go on a big rant with details on why we should be optimistic about the party and the country if you want, but if you're ok with recycling I can link you an old comment.

It's fucking weird to spend this much time defending the DNC, but people need to understand the chair is the DNC. And we've got a really fucking good chair since February, and he is already doing shit.

  • That's only when the wealthy own both parties...

They don't control the DNC anymore, and trying to make trump do what you already paid him to do is an exercise in futility.

Shit looks bad for everyone right now, including the wealthy.

Which is why the media is pushing people to disengage from politics.

Don't do what billionaires want you to do, it's never in your favor.

  • Yep. Apparently I was wrong tho, it's 150 not 225.

No idea where I got that from, probably some upper band from somewhere.

Anyway, when trying to figure out why I was wrong, I found an old David Wong article on from before he went batshit and Cracked shit the bed:

    https://www.cracked.com/article_14990_what-monkeysphere.html

Dude really was a great writer back in the day

  • Socialism has been the middle for 99.99% of human existence...

It's the center. The natural organization of a human social group. The problem is our brains can only handle ~225 different individuals. After that we have to categorizes everyone else into groups which makes it easier to dehumanize those groups in modern society.

That's how capitalism became the norm in large societies

If you're wealthy and you everyone you interact with is wealthy...

Our brains are wired to stop giving a fuck about people not in that small ~225 circle of people.

  • He can go back to the McKinsey foundation...

The biggest danger to the Dem party is someone like Pete winning the primary. Hed put the old guard back in power over the party and bend to American oligarchs.

But it's a very open field:

A June Emerson College Polling survey, published on Friday, finds Buttigieg, who is gay, leading the Democratic field with support from 16 percent of likely primary voters. Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who once dominated early polling, has slipped to 13 percent, followed closely by California Gov. Gavin Newsom at 12 percent.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and New York U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez each earn 7 percent, while Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders captures 5 percent and New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker 3 percent. Nearly one in four Democratic voters, 23 percent, remain undecided.

I've been all for Bernie since 2015, but I hope he doesn't run either. I'm honestly surprised to see he still got 5%, but if he does the smart thing and sits this out, I'd imagine he endorses AOC.

  • All of them had earlier signs than the general public about Biden's mental issues

But they didn't give a fuck until it was undeniable to the general public.

Especially Schumer tho, he didn't act until the very lose possible second after they'd already shut down the primary

We could have had Biden sorted and sidelined with plenty of time for a fair primary.

  • Because the other billionaires who own the media really really really want to avoid progressives accomplishing anything.

So now that neoliberals are out of control of the DNC, the media isn't going to have many good things to say about the DNC.

I'd say that's obviously, but holy shit some days I feel like I'm explaining it to the same 12 people who just can't fucking grasp that billionaire owned media favors billionaires.

Like, could you imagine someone falling for that dumb shit and getting mad at anyone other than the fucking Nazi in your gif and the media system defending fascism
