  • This is how every school should operate. I wish it were possible for all of us to see that.

  • Might be what happens cause it sounds like that golden parachute is illegal as hell.

  • In September 2022, the Oglala Sioux and Cheyenne River Sioux tribes in South Dakota had to pay $500,000 to secure land around the site of the Battle of Wounded Knee, where more than 200 Native Americans were massacred by the US army in 1890. The family that owned the property sought close to $4m though it had been assessed at just $14,000.

Greedy, asshole move by the present landowners.

  • The BBC agrees with you.

The evidence Israel has produced, so far, I do not believe to be convincing in terms of the kind of rhetoric Israelis were using about the set-up at the hospital, which suggested this was a nerve centre for the Hamas operation.

If there was a nerve centre there - and there has been speculation about that possibility since 2014 - then the Israelis have not yet revealed definitive evidence of its existence to the outside world.

What has been recovered includes some Kalashnikov rifles - these are common in the Middle East - a tunnel entrance, of which there are many in Gaza, some military uniforms and a booby-trapped vehicle.

The discovery of and evidence for a major Hamas headquarters underneath the hospital is of course still possible.

The hospital was, after all, built by the Israelis in the 1970s during its full control of the territory, and it is a large site which will take time to thoroughly search.

It's well known that the Israeli architects who designed Al-Shifa included extensive basements.

  • The Israeli army released video showing soldiers carrying boxes labelled “baby food” and “medical supplies”.

The IDF said in a briefing that soldiers found “weapons and other terror infrastructure,” at al-Shifa, and that they had seen “concrete evidence that Hamas terrorists used the Shifa hospital as a terror headquarters,” which they intended to publish later.

Omar Zaqout, who works in the emergency room at al-Shifa, told Al Jazeera that Israeli soldiers had detained and assaulted some men who had taken refuge there. “[They] did not bring any aid or supplies, they only brought terror and death,” he said.

The IDF is a manipulative org that lies through its teeth as often as possible. Publishing pics of supplies being delivered, which one eyewitness says is bullshit, then saying they've found evidence of Hamas occupation but they won't publish that until later.

Fuck the IDF and fuck Netanyahu. They're all lying bastards.

  • Yes, because shit still happens. But many incidents can find their source in people not being well-educated in the dangers, ignoring standard warnings or procedures, and/or how to solve issues.

I've lived in remote areas and even locals have gotten into trouble, ie: using a logging road shortcut in a snow storm then dying by carbon monoxide poisoning, walking/driving on an ice road then drowning (because the ice isn't thick enough).

  • But too often these days the choice comes down to which piece of shit stinks less ... and that's a fucked up way to run a democratic republic.

  • Only around 10-12% of expanded polystyrene (EPS) is recycled across the US, and according to a Cleveland State University study, nearly 30% of US landfill space is taken up by EPS.

Makes you wonder where the other 58-60% of EPS ends up.

  • They're acting more like a gang of 10 yr olds who've found that bullying Black and Brown people makes them feel all warm and fuzzy.

  • They're not clearing the hospital. They're interviewing every patient and medical personal and searching the hospital.

And if all they've found so far is 15 guns and a couple of flack jackets, that hardly justifies the level of violence they've aimed against an institution that is strictly there to save lives.

  • You're the one who stood up and said you love the rule of law. Now you want to qualify that cause you were caught in a lie.

Admit it. You don't like all the rules. You just like the ones that help you.

  • The rule of law says that America must provide emergency services to everyone on American soil. But you don't like that rule, do you? So you pick and choose which rules to follow then, right?

  • But it is obvious at this point. And Netanyahu doesn't gaf because he's trying to prove he's in control of the situation to make up for his failure to stop Oct 7 from happening.

(The IDF) released a video in which a soldier toured a hospital building, showing three bags with guns and flak jackets he said had been found stashed there, as well as several other rifles in a closet, and a laptop computer, but no tunnel complex. Officials said Hamas would have had time to clear out.

"Israel will have to come up with a lot more than a handful of ‘grab and go’ rifles to justify shutting down northern Gaza’s hospitals with its enormous cost for a civilian population with urgent medical needs," Kenneth Roth, a former head of Human Rights Watch who now works as a visiting professor at Princeton, said on social media platform X.

  • ...and we're the bad guy here?

Well that's a silly question to ask. Unless ofc you're one of those Americans who think less of everyone else.

  • Newberg had a pending lawsuit against the cops who arrested him and the city. My guess is he dropped it so he could avoid jail time.
