  • The thing is you have to force them to do it illegally, brutally, while people can see it. If you give in, if you agree to things, it's too easy for them.

Yes, many people who stand up to them will die. It's already been allowed to get to that point. Yet if you sit back and give in, it happens so much more quickly, and much more brutally.

This is especially true if you're white, or at least not openly a minority. If you're a middle aged white male, make them go through you. It's dangerous, you might not make it, so make sure you're ready. White men standing up to them, constantly, is cognitive dissonance to them. They'll expect you to always be on your side, and when everyone isn't, they stumble.

If people constantly resist them at every angle they will fail. We will lose good people doing it, and we have to.

  • Two is “hey wait, I pay for everything and all you do is lie on the sofa and bitch that I’m not doing enough.”

I don't think I've ever seen a better Boomer->Millenial toxic masculinity example before. I guess I could just use an image of Married With Children, but this feels more poignant.

The rest of the world deserves Trump 2.0 far more than the average American.

And here's some American Exceptionalism, man, what a goldmine for sociopathic quotes.

Trump and Elon are literally European agents (yes, Elon is Euro in every aspect but place of birth, and the Trump-Putin connection needs no further explanation

hahahah, 'Elon is Euro in every aspect except the things that would make someone European'.

Have you ever been told 'no' or that you haven't done a good job ever in your life, or are the women too nervous that you'll backhand them for that to happen?

  • One of my family members was immune to the vaccine, and couldn't achieve the required percentage of it to actively fight off the measels. So doctors told his parents to have him avoid any large gathering that they could (fairs, pools, etc). So until he was finally able to get his vaccine % above (I don't remember the number) he didn't get to go to those things, and it was because there was an anti-vaxx group in his area. So this poor kid had two options: Risk the terrifying symptoms and side effects you mentioned, and be social, or never go to those events to make sure he doesn't, you know, die.

Fuck those other parents, selfish fucking cruel anti-vaxx morons.

  • Okay bro wtf is that wall of text. They’re all communist, full stop. Trying to label them something else doesn’t change the fact that communism is a political system for psychopaths

Man, I had some hope you'd look past your propaganda and programming, but I guess not.

I wish you the best in the future; try looking into what you're being fed. After you work through the humiliation of accepting the easy lies of conservatives, please remember you're not the only one to fall for it. It's very common, especially amongst men.

Good luck, you are loved ❤️

  • I don't know who downvoted you, but whomever did go check out Danielle Smith in Alberta. She sure likes Trump, and Ford over in Ontario used Roger Stone as a campaign advisor.

Trump has created a problem for the Cons, though:

"The start of a tariff war with the United States is changing voters' moods. It's harder to talk about a broken Canada when there's a growing sense of patriotism," another Conservative source said.

Our Cons need bogeymen to rile up our Centrist voters. They rail about borderguards or evil carbon taxes (that are given back to the vast majority of Canadians) or whatever, only now we're getting Nationalist Cons rising up, despite their favourite leader Harper being a vanguard of International Conservatism.

We have an absolute issue up here with our Con voters, (when Léger asked Canadians about the Biden-Trump match up in the fall of 2020, 41 per cent of Conservative voters sided with Trump.) and they are extremely susceptible to Russian propaganda:

  • This is EXACTLY how you fight fascism. You just refuse to do what they say (even when it's 'legal' what they're asking) and resist. I'm so happy and proud of Ellen Weintraub.

Resist, follow this guide (yes it's dated, you can adapt it I believe in you), refuse to go along with them.

There are two ways to help fascists: Directly, and by passively following their new laws. Don't do either.

  • Okay, what about ...

Look, I know you're in your young 20's, almost definitely white, definitely a man, and I was once each of those things, too.

You've gone down the Right-wing pipeline, you've nodded along, you've downed the kool-aid. From the sounds of it a light sprinkling of an extremely flawed, right-wing education system.

You are not experiencing your own thoughts. You're regurgitating arguments you've heard online; over and over again, you say the same things, respond in the same way, make the same mistakes. You hamfistedly wave at anyone who ever called themselves socialist and go 'see! look at these mistakes! They're all the same!' When in reality:

Although the emergence of the Soviet Union as the world's first nominally socialist state led to widespread association of socialism with the Soviet economic model, it has since shifted in favour of democratic socialism. Academics recognised the mixed economies of several Western European and Nordic countries as "democratic socialist".[34][35] Following the revolutions of 1989, many of these countries moved away from socialism as a neoliberal consensus replaced the social democratic consensus in the advanced capitalist world.[36] In parallel, many former socialist politicians and political parties embraced "Third Way" politics, remaining committed to equality and welfare while abandoning public ownership and class-based politics.[37] Socialism experienced a resurgence in popularity in the 2010s.

Let's look at Pol Pot, to go back to your whataboutism:

Ideologically a Maoist and a Khmer ethnonationalist...

Seriously, it's on his goddamn wikipedia page, dude. This, what you're doing here? It's embarrassing. You think you're standing up to those meany evil 'left-wingers' when in reality you're a Toy Poodle for fascism, yapping at what you're told to, always waiting for another head pat from your online friends that never quite comes, never quite seems to make you feel like you feel it should.

Conservative parties began because aristocrats felt they had lost too much power, and wanted into the parliamentary system. It's oligarchs now. Is that really who has your best interest? Do you think Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk or Trump care about you? That they will ever do something for you, at the expense of themselves?

Because over on the socialist side we're at the protests, we're at the strikes, we're demanding change, we're helping the poor, we're punching up at authority. You're ideologically marching alongside cops, brown shirts, Nazi's, and you what, think they'll spare you? At best you're meat for the grinder when the fighting starts.

Look into all of this. Really dive into what Conservatism is, why it was created, how it's been opposed to every advancement in society that you enjoy: shorter work weeks, shorter work days, actual safety for workers, workers compensation, paternity leave, health care, freedom to strike, etc. All of those are socialist-won, often through literal bloodshed.

What have wealthy billionaires done to make your life better? Why do you think they're so invested in keeping you angry at visible minorities, women, 'the left', the 2% of the planet who are transgendered, the 2SLGBTQIA+ community? Why is it your enemies are all exactly strong enough to scare you, yet so weak you can insult them for it? Why do you have to punch down to hit these terrifying enemies of whatever it is you hold dear?

  • And no. Lemmy is a itty bitty part of the world. Why would I think it’s a world-wide leftist conspiracy?

Oh when you said "No wonder the left is upset, their propaganda department is being shut down." over USAID being ransacked by fascists, I just assumed you thought the entire world was a leftist conspiracy.

  • To be honest, I don't pay a lot of attention other than to notice the '.ml' and the vast majority of the time, I don't notice any specific tanki-ness to people from there.

.ee on the other hand has been... (checks) yeah, all but one of my blocks in the last month.

  • What's it like having even /c/conservative think you're a right-wing nutjob? Do you think the entire world is a leftist conspiracy out to get you, personally?

  • Mao is a Maoist, and the CCP claim to be 'the sole heir and successor to Joseph Stalin concerning the correct interpretation of Marxism–Leninism and the ideological leader of world communism,' and I think (hope?) we can agree that Stalinism is not communism.

  • I've met people in reality who feel the same way as you, and I wanted to ask you something:

Wonder if our media that is largely Republican controlled and owned by Western billionaires could maybe have some anti-CCP bias

Why does that mean that China is good? Like I understand that specific things western media says could be wrong, but we have a hell of a lot of proof about what they've done. So what I don't get is, sure media is owned by billionaires and corrupt, but why does that mean that the exact opposite is what's true? Stalin/Nazi Germany and Hitler/Germany hated each other, constantly lied about each other, but that never meant that either of them were 'good.' So why does it apply here?

  • I think there's an instance on .ml that has everyone in a tizzy. I myself haven't had any issue with .ml specifically. Lot of 'mens rights' bigots from .ee though, not sure why that is.

  • as many many people pointed out, this was poor planning.

So fucking organize it better then.

Jesus this American shoulder-shrug-why-do-anything-if-it-isn't-perfect is so frustrating to watch.

The thing is if everyone said “fantastic! This will be huge” and the actual protests are underwhelming, well that serves to confirm the false narrative that a very small minority of people are upset.

But nobody did, they just said "this day this time go protest in your capitol".

The optics of pulling off a huge protest in only a week would have been amazing, but just impossible in the real world.

It was a protest across the entire country, and it can be done again, and again, and again.

Seriously do you guys even need opponents? You just give up and convince each other to not do anything unless it's perfect and then sit back and watch your neighbours get put in camps, declaring that you sure don't agree with those actions.

  • Apologies I made another comment in a virtually identical exchange where I mentioned strikes.

To be clear: Protests -> Strikes -> Sympathy Strikes -> General Strikes.

That's how you beat fascism. As soon as people push back at their money base they crumble. If people let them do what they want they keep pushing for more and more until stopped.

  • I didn’t realize police stopped shooting black people.

Dude that's totally disingenuous and you know it. Protests/strikes aren't fucking fairy magic. They show people in power what the people in general think of something. The more people do these things the more it's clear to those in power what will play out and what won't.

If americans, say, went out en masse and started protesting, striking, blocking day-to-day life from happening, in response to putting people in concentration camps, capitalists would put a lot of pressure on the fascists to step the fuck back. Then people could, I dunno, realise they can't passive-resistence their way out of this and started fighting the fascists, this would be over extremely quickly.

Fascism requires you do one of two things: Help them, or don't resist them. If you resist it becomes too hard for such a small number of people to succeed against a massive amount of people constantly defying them.

  • The Women’s March on January 21, 2017 was one of the biggest protests in US History.

I didn't say protest, I said strike. They are not the same thing. Protests require Centrists and 'moderates' to care enough to join them. Strikes are meant to directly impact Capitalism. Going to marches every night for a week doesn't hurt business owners, but a week of strikes loses them money in a big way. With sympathy strikes you can get the capitalists fighting each other. With a General Strike all of the lines-go-downward and they'll freak out.

Until masses are seriously prepared to get violent, we are fucked.

    Guess which step precedes that?

Get the fuck out in the streets, prevent cars from getting places, block entrances, cause consumers to avoid places, then they'll start paying attention.

God it's so fucking frustrating watching your older brother whining there's nothing they can do when there are provable things they've done in the fucking past that have worked.

Look at the Pullman Strike. Seventy people were killed by cops/military, the strikers still won and it was a massive, historical win for American labour laws.

  • Jesus Christ I don't think I've ever seen a posts comments so full of reasons this won't work.

You guys don't even need your media to dissuade you, you just convince each other not to do anything.

  • Oh man, Americans might do something to fight back against Fascism.

(I am legitimately cheering you on from up North <3)
