I've seen countless posts about the tankie problem here in the lemmyverse

Yikes that's a scary crash. Spinning 180 degrees into the whole field like that could've ended really bad
I think a few weeks, but I never really pay attention. I use thode Gillette ones with a blue strip, and they usually go dull around the same time that the blue strip has turned white-ish. I have quite thick facial hair, but because of that I also shave most of it away with an electric shaving machine. A normal razor is quite a pain to use on my facial hair even after 1 day, so the electric razor is kinda needed. I think that also makes the blades last longer since most work is already done
Hmmm I don't really fully know what the runner's high entails. Generally it's a bit harder to keep going at the start, but at some point it's easier to keep running than to stop. That point has been anywhere from after a few steps to after 7km. Usually it's after about 1-3km that this occurs. This time around I woke up feeling quite unrested and shitty, so getting started wasn't easy. But after the first kilometer it started getting better and better, and I guess that after 2-3 km it felt really good right to the end.
Quite good. Ran 15km for the first time in a while, then went for a walk with people for an hour or something. It's nice summer weather, 25 degrees Celsius, mostly sunny, with a nice bit of cool wind.

Yeah that is true from a monetary perspective. But even then, if people would rather listen to white noise then I guess that's just how it is. Greedy people will be greedy tho.

I don't really see the problem. People like to listen to the stuff and Spotify provides it and pays the creator. Seems like everything is working as intended. Looks like it's just greedy people getting annoyed that they can't get even richer.
Personally I never use cash anymore, because cards are just more convenient. That being said, I agree with the conspiracy nuts that cash should always stay a viable alternative. I trust the current government and banks enough, but if all goes to shit I want to be able to pay with cash to keep my data safe.
They have momentum though. They're on the earth (presumably), which is yeeting through space at a rapid pace. Portals must respect relative speed, otherwise everything would fly out due to their speed.
This little cutie looks so weird that it's actually kinda cool
UwU :3
Motion is relative though. Both the portal and the people are presumably on earth (or any other planet) and will thus be moving around in space at a fast pace. So the people have momentum, just not relative to the earth (or I guess more specifically not relative to the specific patch of earth they're on).
So there's 2 options:
- Portals do not respect the laws of relative motion -> the people will get yeeted in some direction because the earth they're on goes very fast through space and the portals are not pointing in the same direction
- Portals do respect the laws of relative motion, in which case the people will get yeeted with the speed of the train
I'm often quite dominant in discussions and tend to strongly defend my position when I consider the other options to be wrong. However, my second issue is that I struggle to accept new ideas sometimes. This combination can leave me in a place where I heavily fight against a new idea, purely because I'm not fully convinced why it'll improve things. As I learn more about it, sometimes I'll see why it's actually a good idea and I'll cringe about my staunch resistance to it. I'm getting better at suppressing that initial reaction, but sometimes it's hard since I really feel like we're doing the wrong thing. I also think it's related to being autistic, as black an white thinking, resistance to change, and valuing facts over the feelings of others are all things that often come with autism. Nevertheless I really want to tone it down a bit.
I think we have differing experiences in that regard then
My main problem with hexbear people (or at least the annoying ones) is that imo they're a bit too vocal about it. I'm not browsing Lemmy for political content most of the time, yet it seems like some hexbear people feel the need to turn everything into a political discussion. That kinda content is fine in some places, but less welcome in others. In my personal life I interact with people all across the political spectum, and with most people I can totally have a normal chat. That works because we bond over shared intrests. It's very annoying when people constantly try to start discussions, whether I agree with them or not. There's a time and place for everything.
I don't think it's the majority of hexbear, I see plenty of good content from them. But there does appear to be a (relatively to all of Lemmy) quite large group of aggressively political people in there, to the point of trying to spread their ideology everywhere.
Haha no problem. Sometimes I miss jokes like this
Yeah I don't really see why not tbh. I wasn't really a fan of Zhou entering the sport because I assumed he'd just be another very mediocre paydriver. But it turned out that I was wrong in that regard, he's able to compete with Bottas and on top of that he seems like a nice and calm guy. Hopefully the car gets a bit better again
How does one speak European? I wasn't aware we had a universal European language
In general, it's been pretty good. Stuff is a bit unstable every now and then, but most of that changed when I switched away from lemmy.world.
There's a couple of things to contend with though. There's less content than there was on Reddit. This ultimately doesn't matter that much for general browsing, as there is still plenty. But for more niche communities it now means barely any content. Even with larger topics like Formula 1 it's quite noticeable that there's a lot less people in there. It's great during big discussions, but any smaller links or discussions often only have like 1 or 2 responses. For other communities it's even worse. Some of the genres I listen to have basically nothing going on, while on Reddit the community was at least large enough to have a few nice discussions every moe and then. The same with many games that I really liked.
Another problem is federation with more (politically) extreme instances like lemmygrad, hexbear, and some right wing crap that was luckily defederated before I could remember their names. On the one hand, I don't want defederation based on political opinion alone to be the norm. But neither do I particularly like getting constantly called a "lib" (even though I'm quite left wing compared to the national average) or get to read constant discussions on these topics wherever I go. I come here to read about fun stuff, unwind a bit, not to constantly read about people defending dictatorships. Hexbear is especially interesting, since their users also add a lot of fun memes and good content. But then equally they brigade comment sections and overwhelm anyone who disagrees with them.
Ending on a positive note: the software (apps, backend, frontend, etc) have really gotten a lot better over the past months. I'm using Connect at the moment and I really enjoy it. Bugs keep disappearing, to the point where I now have very few complaints. Apps is why I left Reddit, so seeing that we're now (imo) in a better place than Reddit is a good thing.
Lemmy.world defederated from those instances. When I switched to a different instance I started to notice it. There are a lot of them, you just don't see them.
