  • Yes. There are no reasons to use Ubuntu nowadays. If you are on that track, skip to mint or mx linux.

  • Mx linux is another try if you want more flexibility installing programs and tinkering with it

  • I install Fedora Kinoite for grandma's and think its great for them.

  • I'm not sure if I like this news or not... It's good news for Windows users for sure... But somebody could think then "windows is not so bad" and lose the momentum to migrate to libre software, which is IMHO the future if we are to hope for a non dystopian one.

  • The cat art style doesnt look 90ish to me

  • But why a proprietary AI chat like chatGPT and not an open one like the ones on huggingface.co/chat (mixtral, gemma, llama, etc) Each time you query something on chatgpt you help strenghtening it and giving more power to a private company.

  • Install linux mint of mx linux for her. Been doing that to a lot of grandma's with great results.

  • Mx linux. Endeavour OS if you are a bit more experienced

  • I have used it (molly-foss)but haven't in a while, just waiting for it to enable OSM location sharing to switch back to it. Didn't know about accrescent. What's the deal about it compared to droidify or f-droid?

  • I meant that it uses the OSM "format" when I decide to share it voluntarily. That totally makes sense for me. I don't want to be sharing no Google links.

  • Molly is wonderful but I use signal-foss because it shares openstreetmap location by default 🤩

  • My cast iron pan is a best buy I use every day. Dropped all other pans.

  • There are a bunch of distros focused on old hardware compatibility. I often install Linux on 32 bit laptops from around 2008 and they work perfectly

  • Its more of a niche. You probably won't have the huge support you have on gnu/Linux nowadays

  • It's another libre operating system that is not GNU/linux
