  • This is interesting, and I personally feel he is fighting it only because it buys him more time. In a different article (linked in this one), where they announce Alabama's plan to use nitrogen it says:

Smith, in seeking to block the state’s second attempt to execute him by lethal injection, had argued that nitrogen should be available.

So he literally asked to use nitrogen, they said "ok" and now's he's saying "how dare you try to use me as a guinea pig"

  • Physical keyboards have markers on home row so you don't need to look. They existed on the phone keyboards too.

The guy is right about being able to do things without looking. I remember using speed-dial to open a text conversation and send a message without ever looking at my phone. It was pretty great.

I'll try to type without looking: this is me round without looking in a phone keyboards. Yeah, it just doesn't work as well without knowing where exactly I'm pressing.

It would be hard to make a phone slim enough and handle a physical keyboard again, but it would be awesome. It would make writing code on mobile a possibility again. Today it's too tedious.

  • Download Wikipedia and put it on a USB drive. Then buy a portable solar panel so you can charge some electronic device to view the wiki. There's a lot of farming, gathering, hunting, etc knowledge on Wikipedia.

The text only download is way smaller than the media download, but the media may be worth it for identifying plants.

  • My childhood pitbull bit me in the face and I have permanent face scarring from it. I had to get 60+ stitches to reconstruct my face.

It's not a valid point to say "most don't attack people" when the breed is much more likely to attack a person compared to other breeds. Then it's made worse by the fact they've been bred to be extra good at attacking.

  • If people prevent something being used by tons of other people for no good reason, then this would be a very good one to "hold a grudge" against them for.

Are you talking about the DDoSers or the admins of lemmy.world? Because, yes, everyone who is trying to use lemmy.world that can't should hold a grudge against the skids who bought a DDoS service subscription.

If you're talking about the admins, you should be more specific. Are you saying that them defederating from another instance is a good reason for that other instance's users to hold a grudge and DDoS? Because I would bed to differ if that's the case.
