I think this thread just goes to show that 'modern technology crap' is relative. For some, adaptive cruise control is modern technology crap, for others, electronic fuel injection is modern technology crap. I recall when power windows were thought to be crap, because when the switch breaks, you can't open the window any more. It's the same with any new tech.
Is there another sub for non-meme ttrpg discussion?
I'll say it here regardless - Feng Shui is my favourite system that's not Blades or DnD or derivates.
The whole premise is based around Hong Kong style action flicks. Most enemies have one hit point. If you hit, they go down. If you describe your action well, you get a bonus- instead of saying "I kick the guy", players are encouraged to say "I leap from the balcony, swing from the tapestry, and fly-kick the guy in the head". The setting includes four distinct time periods, so you can travel from a cyberpunk future to a colonial history between sessions. It's fast, it lends itself to simple plots, and it's fun to be awesome.
You know what? Fuck the haters, and go. By being yourself, and going for your own reasons, you are doing a big part to break this ridiculous stereotype.
Yes, the idea would be to stop building showers in such a silly way, and build them in a way that makes sense. As I said above, we worked it out with sink taps a while back, one day I hope it will be more standard for showers.
I'm so confused. You pivot your elbows and smash the sandwich into your face like the letters hitting the page? You take lots of fast, noisy bites like the sound of typing? You nibble the top piece of bread from left to right, then the filling from left to right, then the bottom, going 'ding!' in between?
Yes, the plumber would have to put a few extra bends in the pipe, drill through a couple more studs. I don't see that as being a big deal. It's a pretty common thing to see taps that are not directly in line with the shower head.
I'd be willing to pay the plumber to put in a couple extra hours and put in a couple more pipe bends, if it meant not getting splashed with cold water every day.
This just seems like the wrong way around... Surely it's better to build the shower so the water doesn't go near the tap? Just have the tap off to the side?
Imagine having a sink where the tap was directly underneath the spout.
In my comment elsewhere in the thread I talk about how, as a complete software noob, I like to design programs by making a flowchart first, and how I wish the flowchart itself was the code.
It sounds like what I'm doing might be (super basic) programming architecture? Where can I go to learn more about this?
As someone who's had a bit of exposure to PLCs and ladder logic, and dabbled in some more 'programming' type languages, I would love to find some sort of 'language' that fits together like ladder logic, but for more computery type applications.
I like systems, not programs. Most of my software design is done by building a flowchart, then stumbling around trying to figure out how to write that into code. I feel it would be so much easier if I could just make the flowchart be the code.
I'm about to sit down for the next six hours. I'm happy to stand for a bit.
