  • Because demand based prices is manipulative bullshit from corporations.

In Oklahoma during that 2021 winter storm, demand based pricing charged power companies billions for natural gas, this in turn caused rolling blackouts until Oklahoma disconnected from the Texas. The charges were over 100x the normal rate, consumers are still playing for that winter storm with an extra surcharge which I'm guessing will stay there for a long as time.

Mind you this was caused by Texas based energy companies cheaping out when they deployed their infrastructure. And these same companies either get bailed out by the people or get windfall profits for fucking up. There is no justification for this type of pricing model.

  • I grew up believing all loans is money banks lend you from their own money they have on hand. But that is a lie. That money is created by the fed reserve when the paperwork is signed. And all the bank has to do is follow rules their lobbyists write.

Why do we even need private banks? I bet people could handle their own fianaces a lot better if we had direct access to fed money creation and we didn't let bank lobbyists write the rules.

  • Paul Ryan sucks.

If Democrats were able to form a coalition with anyone, it would be Biden district Republicans. In that case, they should give the speakership to a Biden district Republican and focus on new house rules that make it easier for Democrats to operate under a coalition house.

  • Neoliberalism doesn't work that way. The incentives of the system are all about preserving the symbiotic relationship donors and those in government who represent donors.

But let's pretend some protege under Feinstein got the donors to support them to replace her. That would instantly sever their relationship with Feinstein and all her senate buds. Senators could and would get new campaign donors if they feel they can't trust their current donors.

Donors don't care about society, they just want more money to buy off more senators and judges so they can get more money and so on.

  • In short, blame partisan primaries. Bipartisanship is seen as aiding the manifestation of evil here on Earth. And that can cost any GOPer the race, even to a no name challenger.

This holds true even for Biden district Republicans, because their most active voters either subscribe to a cult of Reagan or cult of Trump world view. These cult voters dominate low turnout primaries, even when their overall numbers aren't very large.

We could reform elections and have non partisan primaries or even RCV. But that would sap power away from political parties and cultists. Where is the fun in that?

  • Fuck these judges rigging the system in favor of monopolies.

That google judge was very concerned disclosing earnings would reveal company secrets so they allowed google to hide them in the trial. But they are publicly traded and required to disclose earnings...

  • I read somewhere saying some of the contents on the laptop disk were older than the hardware itself. There can be lot's of reasons for this, but don't be surprised if Hunter's legal team has undeniable proof the contents were hacked and stolen from Hunter and loaded on this repair shop owned laptop in an attempt to make a story national news would cover.

  • The base that will blame biden is in on the lie though. You can ask pointed questions like "so you believe biden vetoed it" or "why cant the house gop vote on a spending bill". The ones that actually follow politics know enough not to sound stupid. They will keep side stepping the issue until the subject changes. They are disciplined.

  • I think you get me wrong. I don't feel sorry for Michael Vick. I just think this is more proof how money infects our regulatory system.

Look at food regulation. I've seen regulators shut down and jail independent operations for white glove violations. But look how major suppliers and food chains are treated when their contaminated food sends people to the hospital where some die.

  • The government convicted Michael Vick after they found out what happened to his dogs. Same government turning a blind eye to Elon's monkeys and giving him a green light to experiment on humans. Elon playing through capitalism in god mode RN.

  • But language is how they lie to us and make it seem things are fair. In reality capitalism means all the trillions minted each year by our federal reserve flows to industries and not the people.

Look at it this way, if the federal reserve cutoff loans to banks who service the auto dealerships, the auto industry would collapse. The biggest industries would be severely hurt if not bankrupt without their connection to government and the federal reserve.

Why can't people get that for direct access to federal reserve minting to start their own business, pay for their education, or buy a home? They can't because people are the cattle that capitalists need to exploit.

  • I think stories like these expose the brain rot at the top echelons of society. All of them believe some form of Ayn Rand BS that they alone are preventing society from collapsing when really they are preventing families from obtaining living wages, affordable education, and healthcare.

  • Either you believe the reporting on the public venmos or you don't. But don't pretend like this is similar to Trumps fairly transparent lies about election fraud where he can't even name the fraud.

Look, our media is broken and Trump is exploiting the need for coverage to spread his lies. It's ignorant to think Republican voters aren't in on it as well.

And if you believe the rich in this country get treated just as harshly as the poor, I doubt I can convince you otherwise.

  • Shouldn't publicly venmoing a pimp w/ the comment naming a 17 year olds sex worker and that sex worker receiving payment from said pimp minutes later be all the evidence they need?

If our system was fair, prosecutors would do everything in their power to highlight this strong evidence, even if they believe a jury might acquit on technicalities. Because even when politician criminals are aqcuitted, they still have to answer to the public. Pretending a technicality stops a DA from going forward is our criminals justice system being complicit when it's the wealthy doing the crimes.

  • Moves like that would be good for everyone except the bad faith actors in government. It just takes politicians like Biden admitting how broken their neo liberal order is. And working under a new paradigm focused on solving problems, not leaving problems in place so they can pretend they want to fix things through their inspirational speeches and donation drives.
