  • The added app thing for Zelda turned out to be pretty cool. I was surprised. I’ve been using it to find the few last wells I missed and look up where those new Zelda audio memories are.

And then, of course, the koroks…

  • Tears of the kingdom feels so much better.

No stuttering at all in towns, buttery smooth framerates. Great HDR. It’s so good.

  • Got mine last night, and it’s great!

The system feels more premium, Mario Kart is really fun (and that map is huge!). Zelda at 60fps HDR is something else. It’s so smooth. I’m envious of people that get to play it this way for their first time. I’m going to go back and try to get more koroks.

I’m glad Nintendo has a system I don’t feel bad buying certain games on again!

  • It’s OK. They barely teach it in the United States because they don’t want kids to know.

I grew up in Oklahoma and don’t even remember lessons about it. I had Oklahoma History classes and don’t remember anyone spending much time on it. Granted, that was decades ago, but still.

  • Ditching FB was one of the easier things for me back when I did it right after the Cambridge Analytica thing.

Still share photos with family, just do it directly now.

I keep in touch with all my friends who are actually friends.

    EZPZ.

  • Interesting.

I have switched to Mango Languages because my library gives free access to it. So I’ve been trying to share that information with people. Or, at least, check your local library to see if they offer something.

  • I just deleted the app today based off his comments. Losing a 918 day streak (but, really, who cares?). A friend of mine deleted it this week, too, and lost 1,200 days.

He’ll “walk this back” today and 100% move forward with reducing the human workforce when the heat dies down. I don’t trust him one bit.

ALSO: check your local library. There’s a chance it has Mango Languages available for free. That’s what I switched to. Now that app sits in the same place where Duo used to be. Easy swap.

  • If you have a library card, you might check with your library to see if they have free access to something like Mango Languages, as well.

Mine does, so I can use that app for free. I'm probably going to switch to it as my main app soon because this guy is an asshole.

  • I'm so close to letting my streak die because of this dude. Fuck him.

My library (and check yours, too!) has free access to Mango Languages, and what I have tried there has been nice. But they don't guilt trip you into doing lessons so you have to keep on top of it yourself.

  • I appreciate that they didn't kill the game. If people are still paying for it, and presumably making even a little profit, it's probably not that hard to keep it running.

Too, I don't really know how I'll feel if/when FFXIV ever shuts down. I have had a character now since 2.0, and I would be very sad to see them go. I imagine it's the same for some folks who have been playing 11 for 20 years.

  • Yeah, I played it for the first time in the last couple of years, too.

And I enjoyed the game more than I expected to. It's a lot slower, like you said, than FFXIV for example, but that's OK.

I agree that I'd love a bit of a remake that just made a few things more streamlined like linking up attacks with my trust party - which I found to be often nearly impossible to do, even with mods.

  • So I was on a personal mission to beat every mainline FF game a couple years ago. For 14 I considered "beat" to mean be up to date with the story (which I was doing anyway), and for 11 I wanted to at least complete the story that the game shipped with simply because I didn't want to sink TOO much time into it.

Anyway, you are able to get from 1-50 and kill the Shadowlord on your own now. I can attest to that. And after doing that I have now successfully finished FF1-16!

On my server there were still plenty of people. I don't know how many are gold bot farmers. But there was still lots of characters running around.

  • I haven't thought about a data cap in years once I was lucky enough to get fiber in my house.

Same as you: symmetrical 1gbps up and down, baby.

  • Haven't we kinda dealt with this issue already on discs?

I can't think of a physical disc I have bought for my PS5 that does nothing more than download the game to the system once I put it in - with whatever current updated version it is. And I still have to put the disc in to verify I have the physical media - even though it never checks the disc after that point.

And you might say, "Well some of the discs have the whole game on them!" OK, sure. But they immediately download the latest updates once you install the game. And unless I have never seen it, I don't think there's a "roll back to X version" option anywhere.

  • Just 2000 more points to go to get back to February before he fucked it all up.

Like, I know it's all a scheme to make rich people richer, but we could have just ridden the Biden wave and stayed stable and had the world mostly continue to value the United States the same way, but instead we threw out all the goodwill built up over decades so some rich fucks can play the market.

  • NPR just had Steve Bannon and some other Nazi fuck on air the other day.

If anything, NPR is too lenient on this administration.
