  • Oh I agree 100%. I know I said I can't stand him and that's true, I generally don't like to watch his movies, but full respect to whatever the fuck it is he is doing.

The other one I like with him is Willy's Wonderland, but he doesn't say a single word in it so that might help with the tolerance. (The movie is just well done in general too)

  • Yeah I don't feel her honestly even seeing herself as an actor per ce. Like she's typecast because that's who she is (or at least thats her public persona) and she just rolls with it cause it works in her favour and people love to see it.

  • Outdoor cats (house pets as well as feral cats) are by far the largest cause of human-related mortality in North American birds. Link

Not to mention the average lifespan of an indoor cat is 3x longer than that of an outdoor cat.

Free roaming outdoor cats are more likely to be hit by cars, have health complications, be attacked by wildlife, or be harmed by humans.

Don't let your cats free roam outside. Domestic cats are pets and they deserve love and warmth and safe playtime.

  • I'd add to this that since women and femmes are often not believed in medical settings, it can be helpful to have a log of the irregularities if something is going wrong.

Of course, sometimes you'll still have that log and go to the doctor and they'll tell you you're pregnant despite not having had penetrative sex for 6 months.

  • I had really bad back pain when I switched to an office job, which kept going for like 4 years. I finally went to the physio and after a few trial and errors she discovered the issue was in my core strength. I was exercising and generally active, but because I wasn't engaging my core properly that was just leading to more back pain.

She taught me how to engage my core properly and a few really simple exercises for strengthening, and my low back pain is almost entirely gone now.

Go to the doctor or a physiotherapist. If it's not a medical condition then it's most likely just related to your lifestyle and can be improved with some changes.

Editing to add I'm also in my 30s.

Separate note: On my 30th birthday actually I did have a separate issue with my side where the pain came on suddenly. I did go to the doctor for that one and was told essentially "you're just old", but he wasn't totally wrong on that one because it was literally that I had gotten drunk and fallen asleep on a very broken uncomfortable couch that had fucked my side right up. What you're describing doesn't sound like one of these dumb 'old people' injuries though.

  • My family and I play simple games like uno stacko (Jenga) or bananagrams. Jackbox is also super fun and can get even people who don't normally enjoy games involved.

On the sideline my sister and I also will play a drinking bingo game for every time our parents do something predictable or annoying, which makes things more tolerable if you have complicated family relationships.

If your family likes singing you could also do karaoke? Or go bowling or mini golf?

  • I know you're in the US so it's probably a lot more difficult, but find union activists...

Unions fight for these exact rights, and the reason most developed countries have vacations and healthcare are thanks to union action. Of course, America has fought very hard to keep these down.

Also, no need to shoot others down while you're at it. No one is free until we're all free, and this has always been a class war.

  • Same, and I actually always did in my 20s too but back then I was made to feel like I should be out partying and was lame or a loser if I wasn't.

Now I'm in my 30s and I party when I want or I become a burrito when I want, I don't really gaf if anyone wants to judge me for it.

  • I was gonna say this one too. Especially for the time it was made, I really appreciate that it never punched down on the main character (or people experiencing mental illness), unlike a lot of its contemporaries.

Ryan Gosling has some fantastic early work in general actually. The United States of Leland was one of my favourites growing up, though I'm not sure if it's aged well.

  • Someone should create safe injection sites and call them "jails" and then I bet right wingers would be all over letting addicts go to jails for "short term incarceration".

Better yet, create ultra low security "prisons" that allow "prisoners" to have "unescorted temporary absences" but really they're just free homes for the unhoused and they can sign in and out as they please.

I think that's the language those people prefer.
