  • The tool's creators are seeking to make it so that AI model developers must pay artists to train on data from them that is uncorrupted.

    That's not something a technical solution will work for. We need copyright laws to be updated.

  • The one is done by a human, the other by machine. People are in general more interested in other humans doing things. We watch people play chess but not really machines, even though the later are better. We admire craftsmanship, but automated assembly line doing extreme precession work is just rather functional. I think it has something to do wit empathy and how we relate to other humans rather than to inanimate objects.

  • Not really, they are clearly spending money and resources to grab my attention and it's not like the work is done by people who are profiting in the end anyway. Than again - I'm rather anti consume to begin with, so maybe people like me are not a valuable market to beginn with, which is fair.

  • In my experience it's best to first try to understand where the person is coming from and then address the underlying issue. Often it will be an misunderstanding of scientific method, combined with general mistrust in authorities and garnished with personal anecdotal experiences.
