  • I don't see how you would protect yourself in that scenario, you seem to think they just let it happen on purpose which certainly wasn't the case, America is just a lot more powerful than any third world country. I do agree that the rich will always fight any attempt because they loose power and money from such a move and as soon as you interfer with imperialistic interests you are fucked byond recovery anyway.

  • At least they don't tread modders like Rockstar, well at least not yet I guess.

  • Yea, because they just gave up and certainly didn't try to defend themswlf, sadly even a gun is of no use as poor third world country facing the world power, I can't see a way to prevent that.

  • Yea, the CIA got rid of them and installed one of the worse dictators in history. Luckily the fight against communism is over so I have my doubts it would happen that way again but especially for a poor country I see no chance whatsoever be that with or without violence :(

  • Well, Chile was a democratic election but then came the CIA because those nasty people wanted their own resources for themself!

  • Well, that was quick!

  • You forgot Fallout76 and their own shitty launcher, well and the fact that Microsoft bought them already...

  • Your local power plant approves of this mesaage!

  • Do you try to compare aituations like Chile to the UDSSR or what?

  • For the love of everything can we please ban people like this?!

  • Despite the tankie dislikes you are 100% right and idk about Communism but I definitely believe in democratic socialism!

  • Priracy for the win!

  • You don't access any Fediverse project with the same user and I never claimed there is a Fediverse service that Matrix has a OAuth option for, just that it's just OAuth and can be implemented easily to basically everything, there are no shared accounts between Fediverse services and there are barly any Fediverse projects with OAuth implementations between each other ether, Pixelfed recently added Mastodon OAuth but even that's a relatively new feature.

  • I bet there are absolutely no bots at work on the platform!

  • Today I truly learned what the block button is for, bye!

  • Idk why video calls and Whatsapp wouldn't work but I never used the normal Youtube app so all I can tell you is that Newpipe still works great, the official Youtube website is definitely a pain like any JS heavy piece of garbage. Not sure why you would have a bad experience with old Laptops unless they break or you try to run Windows on one, if you got at least 2GB of RAM in it you should be fine in my experience but 4GB is more ideal these days.

  • Hmm, Newpipe works fine for me but really heavy websites definitrly are a pain, still clearly usable all in all tho and considering how much slower smartphone development is now I have no doubts a good device will be usable in eight years, you can look at the computer side to tell that hardware requirements for general use probably won't increase much for the forseeable future!

  • Well, the obvious dissatvantages are that Activipub isn't made for chat applications and doesn't support proper encryption yet (heavily WIP but veey far from implemented)

  • Taht's OAuth and can be used for Matrix with various providers too!
