This is the only positive thing in the Trump administration so far. I was worried that they were going to de-fang the FTC and DOJ's antitrust efforts and just start handing out slaps on the wrist again, but nope. It seems they're going ahead with the Biden-era aggressiveness, which is awesome.
Of course, they'll never touch Musk's companies, and it remains to be seen if Microsoft/Google/etc will be able to bribe Trump for a settlement. But at least it's a glimmer of hope in the otherwise onslaught of depressing news.
The amount of raw, undiluted satisfaction that would come from watching Musk's fortune disappear would probably be enough to tide me over for the rest of the Trump presidency. I could be sent to a concentration camp slaving away somewhere manufacturing MAGA merch, and I'd still have a smile on my face knowing Elon went broke.
I remember running some linux distro on my G1 wayy back in the day. Idk if it was debian, but it was a formative learning experience for me since it taught me what "chroot" was.
Xitter isn't meant to make a profit directly, it's a loss leader to gain government influence so he can make real money through government contracts via Space X, Starlink, etc
I can see why so many news sites are trying to replace their writers with AI. This article is just a little bit of context followed by a dump of social media posts.
So Vance just so happened to be "walking his daughter" near a group of Ukrainian protestors? The secret service didn't have the capability to look down the street he wanted to walk down and say "maybe we should take another route"?
Or did he purposely take his young daughter near a polite-looking group of protestors just so he could have a low-risk confrontation as fuel to demonize his detractors online?
They're in the business of selling "organic" content to AI companies, but those AI companies don't want advertiser-unfriendly language in their datasets.
Last time, he was out of office, so it was a little gray. This time they don't have that excuse.
But they also aren't going to convince the Republicans to go along with it this time either, and even if they do, we're still stuck with Vance, another anti-democracy turd.
I really don't like this idea. The series has always been "pseudo mature", by which I mean it portrays itself as being for older audiences, but doesn't have any real meat on them bones. It's all fluff and aesthetics around good gameplay.
One thing I just noticed about this place is that posts get a lot of engagement, but there aren't a ton of posts. That means there are a lot of lurkers, but not enough posters.
So if you just came here from reddit, start posting!
he has immunity from criminal prosecution, and it could be claimed that Elon (an illegal immigrant) has assets that can be used to help pay off the national debt.
This is FUD. It definitely is not a "critical" security feature. Firefox flatpak can't currently do its own internal sandboxing of subprocesses via namespaces, but it does do seccomp bpf filtering. That's in addition to the standard sandboxing of flatpak itself, which is implemented using namespaces anyways.
If you are extra paranoid, you can tweak the flatpak's permissions to harden the sandboxing via your distro's flatpak settings app.
