  • i tend to handle my debugging stuff the way i deal with old cables in the drawer. don't get rid of them, there will be that one day (propably not) when all hell break lose, i'm happy i din't toss it.

but yeah, from a secruity perspective it's bad practise.

  • things like that make me think that llms still have a long way to go.

it basicly means, that things that i do, i assume a lot of people do.

    for example:
people cheating, have a higher tendency to suspect their partner of cheating.

    or in this case:
vance knows what they are going to do with the data.

  • He also warned European states not to partner with authoritarian states on AI development.

“Partnering with them means chaining your nation to an authoritarian master that seeks to infiltrate, dig in and seize your information infrastructure,” he said.

in german we say: was ich denk und tu, trau ich andern zu.

which translats to something like: what I think and do, I trust others to do

  • not gonna read all of that, so might ask questions, that are burried there somewhere, bear with me.

why can't you block asklemmy and this guy and say fuck it?
he seems to be an asshole and what i saw from him got downvoted a lot. so why bother?

my granny used to say: "the angrier you get, they become happier"

edit: and please stop puting complete sentenses into links, hard to see how many links there are, sometimes. it's better to make it one word only. or just post the link in clear text. saves people not only from getting rickrolled.

  • Meta's Llama models also impose licensing restrictions on its users. For example, if you have an extremely successful AI program that uses Llama code, you'll have to pay Meta to use it. That's not open source. Period.

open source != no license restrictions

According to Meta, "Existing open source definitions for software do not encompass the complexities of today's rapidly advancing AI models. We are committed to keep working with the industry on new definitions to serve everyone safely and responsibly within the AI community."

    i think, he's got a point, tho

is ai open source, when the trainig data isn't?
as i understand, right now: yes, it's enough, that the code is open source. and i think that's a big problem

i'm not deep into ai, so correct me if i'm wrong.
