  • He literally admitted to account sharing saying that everybody does to be competitive. No they fucking do not, the top players that win races stream all their playthroughs BECAUSE they want to avoid being accused of cheating/account-sharing.

  • Would they? Signal could make this a choice per user. As in, you as a signal user don't enable it so they can't msg you, but they can enable it from signal to talk to you and their social circle all at once.

  • This a really easy issue to fix for signal.

Signal could enable it on a per-user basis. Why would your friends keep using signal? Because you would not enable it so they won't be able to talk to you. However, they can now enable it and keep talking to everyone else, so they might decide to delete WhatsApp with in time.

  • You don't understand. This is not for you, the signal user, to speak with WhatsApp users. This is for you to convince them to swap to signal and keep talking to other WhatsApp users. The more people change, the less information will go through meta. Lowering the barrier to swap apps is great.

To send messages, the third-party providers have to construct message protobuf structures which are then encrypted using the Signal Protocol and then packaged into message stanzas in eXtensible Markup Language (XML).

Meta servers push messages to connected clients over a persistent connection. Third-party servers are responsible for hosting any media files their client applications send to Meta clients (such as image or video files). After receiving a media message, Meta clients will subsequently download the encrypted media from the third-party messaging servers using a Meta proxy service.

This is only for messages sent to WhatsApp, right now you are force to use their app to chat with WhatsApp users, which is worse than the proposal.

  • Why would your signal to signal data be even sent to WhatsApp? Only the signal to WhatsApp and WhatsApp to signal data would go through meta servers... If that's not how it's being designed, it's a failed feature ofc.

  • This is not federation, this is signal being able to send message to a WhatsApp server and WhatsApp being able to interpret it to send it to a WhatsApp user. WhatsApp wouldn't know more than what it already knows when you inevitably need to use the app to reply to your grandma or whatever.

A big plus however is that you can convince friends and family to switch since they would be able to keep chatting with their family and friends, so the entry barrier lowers by a ton.

This is not federation and it is great.

  • Imagine that the main instance starts to blocklist words and censor content. Or ads. Having a way to move all your history, follower and follow list would be great so deter such issues since users can abandon your server quickly and you would just lose the userbase you were trying to monetise.

Imagine I decide to invest in a private server and want to create my own instances and move my Lemmy and Mastodon accounts there to have better control of what happens.

Having to resubscribe to everything would suck and specially in mastodon, having to generate a new userbase from zero would just deter users from such things.

Another example, suddenly the Mali govt decides to close lemmy.ml, that would suck. Having a way to changing the instance would be just great.

  • Even if the username changed, having some feature where you can transfer your account and follows, history and notify all to your followers of the new name so their follow list gets updated could be coded, and it would make instance hopping relatively easy.

I'm against reserving your name in all instances but having a feature to change the handle and that all your followers don't suddenly know who you are is important. Something akin to creating the new one, notifying of the change and leaving the old one directing to the new one for some time.

Or just not letting you swap to an instance if the handle exists. Idk. But this would make me actually start using mastodon if it were a feature. I might even start a fork and work on it.

  • In poe you can add people to your friend list and even if they say no, you have them on the list. There you can track their online status and the-zone they are in.

We can also write /whois Percy-verance in chat to get the same info.

After that stream several people tracked his character and was found online, changing zones nonstop, blasting maps, while he was live on a spaceX conference.

So, not only it's evident for players that has watched his stream that he is a fucking fraud, but he as been caught cheating, there's proof.

  • I fully agree with your second sentence, you don't have to do it tough, there are avenues in game to do everything. Shortening your play time because you pay is stupid and pointless. The way people demonized the game for something that's optional that degrades the game experience is beyond me. Saying that they designed the slow game thinking of the money store, when the game is following the spirit of the original very well is idiotic.

In any case, you are entitled to your opinion.

  • "Or you can also play the game and buy the item ingame for 500RC, it's not that big of a deal."

About Dragon's dogma 2's character editor system.

They made it more lenient but I stand by what I said. I changed my characters aspect several times and I never put extra money. People were piiiiiiised about the extra one time purchase p2w stuff capcom put in the single player game, as if that was not their norm in most of their titles.

Good game, trash ending compared to the first one though.

BTW, my most controversial comment is also about DD2 LMAO:

" I'm going to be downvoted to hell, but I'm loving the game, and all the mtx and complaints about the easy to travel and such are from people that didn't play the original, honestly. This game is like the original but better, maintaining the spirit of the original.

Yes, you could buy revival stones in the original too.

The legit complains are the performance issues and crashes, but anything else... Idk what to tell you, they knew that the slow gameplay that is expected of the player would not be well received but wanted to conserve the original feel, so if you want to bypass the original feel go for it. I won't. "
