  • It depends on your activity levels, metabolism, age etc. in general that amount of protein (assuming your diet is consistent) will keep your muscle mass constant and keep your brain functioning well (and other bodily functions - it’s not siloed in its purpose and basically impacts every aspect of your body’s functions . Your body’s processes are not solely reliant on protein but if you don’t have enough your neurotransmission and cognitive function will suffer. If you consume less protein than your base amount for a prolonged time, your body doesn’t have what it needs to maintain core functions and renew and maintain muscle mass. If you don’t consume enough calories overall you’ll find your body will consume its own muscles as a source of energy which is a dangerous metabolic process that can have lasting detrimental effects.

Basically over a short term or one day in a while, not consuming enough protein shouldn’t be an issue, but on a consistent or prolonged timeline, your body just doesn’t have what it needs to maintain itself and you are at risk of longer term impacts to your wellbeing in many facets of your basic bodily functions. I’ve read numbers like .75g per kg for women and .84g per kg for men daily, for basic maintenance of bodily condition. Obviously it isn’t One size fits All, but as a general jumping off point I think that’s a reasonable ballpark. Basically if you’re healthy, and assuming all other things being equal, those amounts should maintain your current state.

  • Limewire… downloading all your favourite songs, wait no… typing in names of any song you could think of in hopes you’d find it. Then you did find it and it turned out to be the same damn song you can’t stand with the file misnamed. A whole generation grew up confused about who sang their favourite songs, and found constant frustration in waiting like 12min (on a great day) for Smells Like Teen Spirit to download, only to find they got Weird Al Yankovich’s parody instead… like 4 times in a row from four different files. Ahhhh memories.

  • Oof not sure the 128 packs were even a thing in my day! Just fell down a rabbit hole on how the colours are all different now, as are the names, many of which are puns rather than descriptive (I agree with those that needed an update culturally - eg flesh tone, Indian red etc) just shows you can never go home again.

  • I just remembered something I haven’t thought about in a lifetime. The giant box of Crayola crayons I had as a kid - had a crappy plastic sharpener built into the box. It would tear the paper and take chunks out of the crayons but still, I used it.

  • I think it’s a case of a Chinese artist who is accustomed to drawing people with traditionally Chinese facial features, having a crack at a turd wrapped in a sausage casing, rolled in cheese dust, and struggling to distinguish a different set of facial features and is bringing their own lens/technique to it.

  • Hiding in the toilet, hiding in the footwell of your car, picking your kids up from school (that’s usually just the domesticated ones).

Also, those guys were all brought here to deal with the last invasive species that got outta hand, the deer are gonna need their own predator imported - brown bears should do nicely.
