  • If you already have a server and don’t need more resources then just leave it. No need to waste more power “just because”.

That said you could hang onto it until you have a need. You never know when a machine will shit the bed and having a half top is useful.

  • I mean it's an over 10 year old board. Unless you really want some of the server specific stuff you're much better off getting something from the DDR4 era so you can snag much higher capacity ram for cheap. If it's just a NAS then you really don't need a "server" board, a regular consumer grade motherboard will do just fine as long as it has the I/O you need.

  • Based on it happening in a parking garage out of the way I'm assuming it was some (probably drunk) idiots fighting each other. I didn't go to union station this year, but last year everyone was fucked up, and shit would get rowdy at the edges.

Naturally There's people in this thread ready to jump on a tragedy to push their theories onto it. Nobody wants to wait and see what the actual cause was, and since we have two of them in custody we will know what it was about.

  • I think it's pretty safe to say that's a typo on their part. Those slots are clearly the full length DDR3 modules so just look for any DDR3 unbuffered ECC DIMM and it should work.

Also FYI non ECC ram should work if you don't care about ECC. The memory controller is on the CPU side so as long as the mobo hasn't fucked up/purposfully locked it out ECC/non ECC is only down to the CPU.

  • That was my first guess as well. By default the TV is in an eco mode and would only use around 50 watts. But as soon as you make the TV actually usable it will double in power.

OP if you want to get a worst cast scenario of the power consumption of your TV just look at the power supply. If it's an external brick just look at the DC output from the brick and multiply the voltage by the amperage. If you're running it off of a battery powered inverter then power factor, and efficiency of the brick come into play, but it shouldn't be too much worse than the absolute highest the brick is rated to output.

  • For me Windows 11 gets me about 30 minutes to an hour better battery life than 10. That doesn't sound like much, but going from 2 to almost 3 is pretty big improvement.

Now that devs finally updated their programs to show up in the new right click menu it's not obnoxious anymore, and unlike a bloated 10 install doesn't take 10 years to open.

  • Supposedly it's 60 fps. Right click and do the stats for nerds and see if you're dropping frames.

That said it doesn't really feel like consistent 60 fps. Some parts definitely look like it wasn't recorded in 60 or something.

  • 5ghz doesn't fix deliberate jamming. There's just more channels available for a device to use. Find the channel the AP is on and start blasting away at that frequency and you're golden. Bonus since 5ghz has a shorter range than 2.4 so with a sufficient antenna and power (because fuck legality if you're already stealing shit).

  • What someone did in the past doesn't mean they're going to do it again. You may be paranoid about it, but imagine how they feel if they're a legitimately changed person? That said I'd still be cautious.

I agree with @captainlezbian Was he convicted, or found innocent? Unless he's doing weird shit that doesn't justify continued discrimination.
