  • That's only up to 11 hours. Ryzen 7000 series can get pretty thirsty when you start doing a lot. My current laptop is rated for 10 hours of battery life, but I usually get about 2-3 on a good day. My Ryzen 5000 series laptop is really good at low loads, but 6 cores will drink through it's 57 watt hour battery, and that's with a 14 inch screen and an "U" CPU.

IMO any laptop that's 15" or bigger should have at minimum a 90 watt hour battery.

  • No idea, something must time out or be cached based.

    http://web.archive.org/web/20240222210218/https://www.wvlegislature.gov/Bill_Status/bills_text.cfm?billdoc=hb4299%20eng.htm&yr=2024&sesstype=RS&i=4299

What a massive pain in the ass it was to get archive.org to archive it. Fuck ColdFusion.

https://www.wvlegislature.gov/ in the top right search for "House Bill 4299" and the first result should be for the 2024 session. Don't accidentally look at the one from 2022 or the one that requires healthcare workers to do something sexual to their patients like I first found.

If that doesn't work then I guess google for 2024 west virginia house bill 4299 2024 and you should find something.

  • He’s already completely ignored the “don’t let a potential mass shooter have a gun” option.

That's already not an option. There are more guns than people in the US. Guns have been so engrained into our culture for so long. You will no eradicate gun ownership in the US without starting a civil war

  • I also wish it would have a bigger battery. 67 watt hours is pretty low for a 16 inch computer. I never understood why these manufacturers stick with exclusively the lowest specs possible while still delivering a technically acceptable laptop.

  • Sounds like there’s nowhere for a teacher to hide a gun either in that case.

You don't hide a gun, you carry it. Tucked away inside your clothing hidden in a way that nobody should be able to see it. A gun hidden away during an emergency is useless.

  • What's better, someone completely defenseless with no options but to hide and die. Or someone able to do something about it?

The bill requires that staff carrying weapons at school undergo annual behavioral health assessments and training designed by the West Virginia Department of Homeland Security. The bill lays out a list of at least 15 different topics that should be addressed in the training, including crisis intervention, trauma and first aid.

These are supposed to be trained individuals, not just a random 1st grade teacher that got handed a gun the day before.

  • There was a conversation the other day on this, but I forget the exact details.

Open sign up is nothing is required to let you sign up.

Closed is obviously invite only/manually must be accepted.

But there's the middle ground that wasn't technically open sign up, where the only requirements are filling out a captcha, and usually email verification.

  • I've never had issues trying to force it to give me the latest update in the past. I spent like an hour doing everything in my power to get it to install without downloading the full 6 gig iso, but I guess if I want to update this device I guess I'll have to.

I have multiple other devices running Windows 11 and none of them had any issues getting the "upgrade to 23H2" prompt. Not sure why this one is such a problem.
