  • Pay me upfront to make it, subscribe to my patron. If you need my intellectual property to be guaranteed then pay me for a SLA support contract.

Otherwise everything I make is out some other interest and your benifit is just an unintended consequence or because of some charitable notion on my part.

Its crazy how much of the world is actually just this and not some nebulas notion on artificial scarcity of the idea of the things (IP).

Trademark would arguably be uneffected though since that has more to do with fraud protections.

  • Maybe you see your game as spiritual successor to a previous game and want to honor player previous progress or achievements in the previous game.

Maybe you accept third party assets and need some market for those assets, and NFTs can represent a legally binding proof of ownership of that asset.

Maybe you want keep your live service relevent by having your assets transferable among a larger ecosystem of games.

It is very much like the steam market place but unlike steam items you do actually own it, steam can't legally shut down your account or block you from transferring that ownership after the fact.

But yeah its just a tool no idea what all game makers will want to do with it.

  • The big thing I've seen for gaming is the idea that you can have tokens not tied to a specific game. Like maybe an achievement gotten in resident evil unlocks a cool skin dead by daylight.

Or you could implement something like Sword Art Onlines's item/skills system where they attached to a user and not a server, and servers can choose which ones to implement in their version of the game.

Of course its also possible it could be sold second hand, so maybe you think the Christmas skin of a popular character is stupid and will never wear it, but someone else just missed the event. You could sell/gift it to them, because the entitlement is yours to do whatever you want with it. Maybe you just hate the hell out it so much you offer a ton of cash just lock them all up. Idk this part of it just not my jam tbh

  • Two UPSs? Or better 3?

Tbh that is the coolest setup I've is the OpenCompute rack with 3 UPSs powering the DC rail for the rack. Otherwise two UPS for servers with two redundant power supplies.

How do you monitor your setup now, have you/can you use NUTS?

  • Opensource (specifically Libre)

    Worker and community cooperatives.

    Right to repair.

    Public money, public goods.

    Privacy by default.

    Decentralization > Federation > Disconnected > Centralized

Treating addiction as a disease and people intentionally seeking to exploit it at a mass scale should be charged for harm.

Organizations should be held liable for user data exposed to malicious actors both intentionally and through neglect of security.

  • I played it at a lan party when it first came out. We all had a blast and after a day of playing we had wildly different stories and experiences.

Its an awesome game, and with mods you could get another games worth of fun out of it IMHO, but I don't think its the end game of games like they treat it. It can be better (mods show just some of that potential), and they're are other games.

  • Monolithic kernels were a mistake /s

But honestly its too bad that adopting new technology is so difficult in large projects like the Linux kernel where arguably trying to replicate the success of Linux AND adopt new technology sounds extremely burdensome.

Worse I fear the lose of the libre ethos in new projects as they feel the need to bend that ethical barrier more in order to better "compete" with Linux.

  • And all of the petro cars accidents caused by failing vehicles, which is what these are replacing.

I mean I'm sure 98% of these people would take a new car for the same price and maintenance schedule (not a subscription to a car...). I mean I would, despite also being a big fan of DIY and self reliance. That said they aren't, so instead this option makes sense for people like us.

  • I think that is why IPFS is a popular option for NFTs. With its content addresses.

Honestly ledgers, deeds, etc. Its crazy how much energy and human effort is put into them.

Like deeds aren't just paper, they are bueracracies, buildings, computer systems, and people with guns and batons cracking skulls.

  • Something to consider water doesn't stop at the shore in a lot of soils. There is actually a lot of water moving underground, moving the foundation and such. You also have to contend with rising water levels.

What makes the most sense then would be a city built to transition between the types of houses shown here as the conditions change and grow.

  • Honestly, compentcy around the product line and customer base, humility to reach out to the experts in the company for decisions, industry connections, actually being available and listening to employee feedback and confidence in decisive action born out of the latter items.

  • Yeah! I started it because I partner wanted a more latte like drink, and I like a very creamy coffee.

I will say contrary to what I expected, I had to lower my soak time because it gets bitter faster, but I still prefer it.

  • I take my coffee cup fill it full of whole milk, microwave at 60% power for ~3 min. Fill the bottom of my press with a layer of course ground bean, sprinkle in the chickory (maybe a whole layer), another layer of bean, power the hot milk in, wait 5-10 min, press and pour.

If I'm making some for guests I just add their cups of milk as well and a little thicker layers.

Oddly cold brew has that dirty flavor to me, so I never, despite wanting to, got into it.

  • Making desert coffee at home. I got a French press because i drink one cup of coffee a day at most and I wanted make sweeter more rich coffee.

I now can use all cream line milk or oat milk, soak my fresh ground beans (and chickary root sometimes), add sweeteners to taste.

Blame better coffee than most coffee shops (for me). No 1000 dollar machine
