  • Yeah we're getting really good at teaching computers to analyze satellite imagry and other forms of spatial data to find the spots we want. All we have to do is decide if we put green spaces, Walmarts or bombs in those spots.

  • GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Specialist. If you got rid of just the specialists you probably be fine. The techs, analysts, and admins could hold things together. If all of the GIS experts disappeared all together we would probably start getting hungry pretty quick, and the US military would get a lot shittier. basically, anything that relies on a geolocation is kinda screwed. Lots of it has actually been automated so we might be fine for a bit.

  • I was thinking Canada was going down the tube for years and then I left vancouver to go to a smaller city. I just don't see the point of struggling every single day just to have some temperate weather and nice mountains in the background. Even if I liked skiing or hiking I didn't have the time or money to reap the benefits of that city. In 2 years since I left I have bought a house, with a yard for my dog. sure the Prarie winters are hard but at least I'm saving for my future. my advice to anyone who is barely making it by those large city centre, go somewhere that will value your effort and provide the opportunity for you to be happy. It's not as scary as you would think.

  • We agree for the most part. Unfortunately though, community college isn't free for everyone. The people in these jobs should be allowed the flexibility to increase their employability through post secondary training without having to pick which night of the week they will skip eating to make rent.

  • I think you are certainly correct that people shouldn't expect high paying jobs right out of the gate, but there has to be a better compromise. These people still sell up to 40 hours of their week. Wouldn't it be more palatable if they could do a little better than barely scrape by?

  • On my drive to work every day, I see a man and woman of Middle Eastern ethnicity, walking and she follows approximately 5 -10 steps behind him. I don't know what their story is but I am botherred by the fact that she MAY not be allowed to experience the freedoms her new country can offer her while she is influenced so heavily by whatever her previous culture was.
