Depends on who is talking and the context.

If I go to a WH40k night at a FLGS, and someone points to a specific guy and says they're good at 40k, I'll probably take their word for it. They're in an environment where they've been tested regularly and that guy probably is one of the better ones at the shop. Are they able to play at a major tournament and place well? Maybe, maybe not.

For a new hire for programming, depends on who is saying it. Were they in the team for the hiring process? Do they have a track record of picking up good talent?

I also have a working theory that it's not too hard to better than 75% of people who do a given thing. For example, here's a breakdown of Chess.com ELO ratings (taken from the other site, dated April 2023):

Getting to 75% would be a little over 900 ELO. Which is interesting, because not only is that fairly low, but it's also below the 1200 that you typically get assigned as a new player. Though Chess.com does assign that based on your self reported skill level at signup.

Eh, doubt that would be better. Among the Ethically Non-Monogmous, couples looking for a third are considered the worst. They're invariably looking for a woman to play out the guy's MFF fantasy. She might be OK with it as a birthday present for him or whatever, but it's not something she'd choose to do otherwise. If they do manage to find someone, it often doesn't go well.

I think these couples need to put some cash aside and find an escort.

Not against their weight class. In fact, Ukraine is a notch below Russia's weight class, and they stopped Russia from reaching Kyiv before any significant western supplies started to arrive.

Have you been paying attention to what's been going on in the US? And not just with Trump. Making sure black people lack a voice in the government has been a goal backed by violence for a long time.

Most of the issues with Cuba's poverty stems from sanctions. Those sanctions are in nobody's interest except a few Cuban expats in Florida. Who at this point are the descendents of people who were kicked out for largely good reasons.

As for human rights abuses, we don't even need to make the comparison between the US and Cuba on that one.

However, those aren't the only thing in the deal. Bunch of other minerals are in there, and oil and natural gas.

The article leads with that headline, but quickly piviots to talking about Mike Waltz being tossed in a place Trump doesn't care about.

That said, if it happens, I'll laugh my ass off as they fire everyone who knows how to do the real work.
