  • Linux not being able to launch a game (that probably was not made for it) is not a relationship issue but a technical one.

Even if it is possible to run the game but you need to hack around your distro's configurations, you can be certain the default configuration was not made with the specific intent of preventing you from running the game.

In the Windows case you are not hacking around with the json file to solve a technical issue.

Windows is not misconfigured, it's Microsoft's explicit decision to prevent you from removing some of it's software even if it's forced by law to do so for other people.

It's ok if you don't mind Microsoft's behavior or you just find Linux's technical issues more important in choosing an OS. But the issues are not similar neither equivalent.

  • Normally sed just passes along the edited text to STDout (printing in the terminal usually).

With the -i option it actually changes the input files. If you add an extension immediately after the -i it apparently makes a backup of the original with that extension.

  • What scares me is that, people are going to stop paying attention and dismissing actual antisemitism and hate crimes.

Israel is probably more concerned with moving it's ethnic cleansing of Gaza/West Bank forward than protecting Jewish people in the USA.

  • It is an infringement of free speech as a concept.

It is not an infringement of US law as the relevant protections are limited in scope to governmental actions.

Obviously US law and even more so the supreme court's interpretations of them are flawed, both on a moral level (big corps should also not be allowed to censor speech) and a logical level (censoring speech is free speech, corps are entitled to human rights).

  • Using copyrighted material for research is fair use. Any model produced by such research is not itself a derivative work of the training material. If people use it to create infringing (on the training or other material) they can be prosecuted in the exact same way they would if they created an infringing work via Photoshop or any other program. The same goes for other illegal uses such as creating harmful depictions of real people.

Accepting any expansion of IP rights, for whatever reason, would in fact be against the ethics of free software.

  • ADIZ is not a nation's airspace, which is actually part of it's territory according to international law. In fact ADIZs have zero basis on international law, neither Taiwan's nor China's nor the USA's.

With that in mind it should be no surprise that ADIZs are way bigger than a country's airspace (which matches it's territorial waters). Taiwan's extends over mainland China. Of course they don't report on Chinese planes flying over China but even the median line is way further out than the 12nmi of territorial waters/airspace a country is entitled to.

Of course China also arbitrarily claim to have an ADIZ as well as arbitrarily claiming the whole strait to be internal waters thus their territory.

  • That still though, doesn’t mean that those lives lost in WTC didn’t matter. That’s what you’re making it sound like. “DUUHHH THE CIVILIANS LOST IN AFGHANISTAN AND IRAQ COMBINED OUTWEIGH THE BODY COUNT OF THE WTC TRAGEDY SO UHHH THAT MEAN THEIR LIVES MATTER MORE!” The whole damn war was a shitshow, again nothing new. But don’t go around pretending that there wasn’t a trigger somewhere for why shit happened as you’ve just demonstrated. You’re ignorant.

All lives matter the same. Therefore tens of thousands of lives matter more than a few thousand.

Of course you clearly believe American lives matter more. You clearly believe the war in Afghanistan was justified. I am neither ignorant nor barking at the wrong tree. I am barking at another racist American.

  • I don’t really get the stance of “you wanted revenge, bloodthirsty revenge murica”. Did you forget that innocent lives were taken, unasked?

What the fuck would YOU do? Sit there and twiddle your thumbs all like “oh…3,000 people, never forget. sniff”.

That is revenge. You think it is justified revenge. Perhaps it was though history did not start on 11/09/2001. It certainly is not "we were over there for well over a decade trying to fix that shit" as the guy I replied too said.

You also kind of forgot about the guy that actually arranged the attack for a few years while many more people died than in Afghanistan and Iraq than in WTC, most of them having nothing to do with the attacks.
