I don’t understand how streaming isn’t just considered syndication. It seems like a dictionary definition of what it was, even if it didn’t exist when syndication agreements were made.

It’s a rerun of a show on a separate channel/platform. And the writers/actors should get the agreed revenue for it the same as if it were on TMC, nick at night or Netflix b

The arch wiki is pretty on point for general information about specifics and can often translate across distros.

But like one of the OPs said, a lot of the folks tend to be a bit gate keepy/defensive or very much fanboys of specific distros.

I used it once. When it first came out. When imaging 125 machines at once.

Just turned the volume up and let all the Cortana’s just yammer away at the same time.

It was beautiful.

I then shut them all down and Reimaged them with an image that had it disabled by policy.

So it would have been that much easier for Ubuntu to be first to market and open source the snap server software…

But they didn’t. And alternative solutions had to be created.

Kind of like that but with a modern format that can span multiple episodes.

Snaps are technically foss but the server thst hosts them are proprietary to Ubuntu, when flatpak is perfectly reasonable. It’s a bit of a pattern of things they do, finding solutions to things they weren’t really problems (cough netplan cough)

Agree. One of my favorite species was the Xindi in enterprise. But even they fell victim to the trope of the universal translator. A species like the Gorn where normal linguistics just won’t work would be a nice touch (Ala the movie arrival or something)

I really liked the subtle hints. They arent just savage creatures. They have advanced technology. Communicate in ways humans cant understand at all. Use tech in ways most humans cant handle as well. Etc etc.

Trek would do good to have more species that arent humanoid. It makes for a much more interesting show.

I mean. They kinda work. In that they don’t crash or freeze as often as they have. But leveraging them for workloads, including for things like video processing/encoding is no where near on par with windows versions of the same drivers.

Try an egpu or thunderbolt dock.

It is. Just never says what’s hung.

Frankly It’s more like

Windows - “shut down please. No it’s fine, I’ll wait. Indefinately is fine”

Linux “ shut down please. You have 30 seconds or I’ll shut you down myself”

If you clicked a link, and hit context. You got no parent comment or context. For example for replies/notifications to your comments etc.

It’s a global setting, not per monitor or per setup and also quite gimped. Also on Wayland, on my couple of setups. It’s sucks ass.

Haha. I have. It’s awesome. But systemd boot is a victim of lack of secure boot.

On the one hand. The lack of grub fucking with the windows boot sector is awesome. But the lack of secure boot is kinda annoying. Especially if you dual boot.

Yeah that depends on the printer to be sure. But the common denominator there is printers fucking suck. Trying printing across AD domains or having usable point and print in windows without just saying fuck it and removing the print nightmare mitigation via regkey.

They all have their niche and strengths/weakensses

I went from stumbleupon/fark, slashdot/google reader, digg, reddit, lemmy.

My account on reddit is pretty old. Like in the 17 years old area.

Digg i was on until the first exodus. (It wasnt just one migration, it happened in 2-3 waves). I actually like G4TechTV and diggnations show (amongst a few others like Hak5 etc)
