  • yeah maybe i'm dumb, but for example in the put a few cities widget they offer, I don't seem to have the option to show for example air pollution instead of temperature. Bummer.

  • The only thing in my 6 year old washing machine that has been broken was the circuit board. Part mainly needed to cycle trough the menu because they put that instead of analog buttons. Meanwhile, I know people with certain German brand machines that are 30 years old and running perfectly for the entire 30 years, and if something would break it would 9 out of 10 be super obvious and mechanically easy to fix.

Sometimes smarter is definitely not better.

  • Ship insurance is somewhat how modern capitalist world trade came into existence: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_East_India_Company?wprov=sfla1

Bunch of people putting money together for ship to have a try going and returning with lots of goodies, is like an insurance I'm some way.

I think insurance isn't just possible, it's obligated to be allowed to enter certain ports with certain shipsizes.

  • there's still a decent chance it's only industrially biodegradable: at higher temperatures and pressures than a good ol' home compost pile normally ever gets near. It could still be a bit infuriating.

  • So it's trump or Biden calling shots not scholz, big difference. And in most countries with US nukes: there is an American units base maintaining and safeguarding the weapons, it's a big difference from France or UK and that reflects in politics.

  • On the other hand France is kinda safe when it comes to a conventional war, at least for a long time. Of course Germany is scared because it is not that far away, it is literally just Poland between Germany and russia and the German military is by far not able to fight a war against a well trained army with endless human resources.

France has nukes, Germany doesn't. Meaning france can say whatever they want, the nuke-threat is empty against other nuke countries.

If they really wanna play putin's stupid game, NATO should amass 200.000 troops not in or next to Ukraine, but elsewhere. 50.000 more near scandinavian border, 50.000 more baltics & poland, 50.000 turkey-georgia, 25.000 moldova/romania and, because why not, 25.000 somewhere near bering strait/alaska. All-in, tanks, plane, carriers, stand by on every other accessible border to russia. See how russia really handles that permanent land overstretch in every direction.

  • Glass bottles are not always single use. Countries have systems to recollect them (empty bottles hold a face value), they get factory-cleaned and quality tested and each bottle can run for 20 or more cycles. The issue is more that it increases the transportation and handling costs and emissions because of weight. Bottles that don't pass the test anymore but did stay in the system can get near 100% recycled, tho the issues there are that it's usually downgrade (make dark bright again = hard) and very energy intensive (costs more energy to recycle than to make glass from scratch). Anyhow: not single use.

  • It's a big fat fucking truck or luxury suv with a battery. A normal sized electric car is a thing too, you know. Electrics will always need to be heavier than ice of same size and model, but that doesn't mean it needs to weigh 3000kg. Car are growing heavier and bigger not just because of electrification, but because of growing fragile egos and growing fears in a vehicle arms race.
