I heard an interview with Genevieve O'Reilly (Mon Mothma in Rogue One and Andor) who, when asked what her favourite Star Wars film was, gave the uncool answer of RotJ, and as the interview was ending, could be heard frantically trying to correct herself - "Argh! I meant Empire!, I meant Empire ... [fades out]".

I've always been down on the third film because of "Death Star 2" (like, think of another thing George), and I never went to see the 40th anniversary re-release because it was the 'Special' edition. (Speaking of the OT and editions, I saw the ADYWAN fanedit of Empire recently - it's the best one, IMHO).

Everyone's having lots of fun dunking of The Idol - Andy Greenwald from The Watch podcast said the finale was the worst hour of TV he'd ever seen. It's rare for HBO to produce a complete stinker. I don't know if I even want to hate-watch it.

Saw The Artifice Girl recently - not on the list but it's an recent indie film I'd recommend.

Everyone's free to like what they like obviously, but "Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles" would also be at the top of a parody of this kind of list.

If you're from the UK, "Threads" is known as an oddly scary TV movie that messed up many a child who watched it. So it's already synonymous with end times.

Just seen it, had earlier dismissed as a kids film, but really enjoyed it.

There's a straightforward trans allegory, but it could also be applied to other situations where societies "make their own monsters". After all, the proverb "A child that is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth" is as old as humanity itself.
