  • They tend to come from mis-configured KBIN servers, notably projectsegfau.lt and fedia.io, but no-one seems especially invested in fixing the problem at the 'sending' end. Ultimately, it's a Lemmy issue, in that it just accepts the timestamp received, without any sanity checks, but the fix for that is currently 'on-hold'.

EDIT. But to answer the question: No, I don't think there's any easy way to hide them. Block the community, or - if you like the Community and think other posters have a chance to get a word in - block the user.

  • I don't think you can get infinite scrolling if you're just accessing lemmy.world directly through a browser.

Maybe you saw the feature info on the announcement about being able to Alexandrite as a frontend? If you go here and log in again, you'll see infinite scrolling.

  • Not that I'm aware of. Sorry - it was a reference to Andor: there's a scene where a character says 'Fight' where it was initially filmed as 'Fuck' but Disney wouldn't let them use it (maybe for the best, I don't know).

  • Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks is probably most like the EP you're listening too (they both have The Ascent on them).

Of the 'Ambient' releases, I've never really got into 'Music for Airports', but 'Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirror' has some very pleasant piano-led tracks, and 'Ambient 4: On Land' is weirdly terrifying at times, but something I still regularly listen to.

Not music, but I enjoyed Adam Buxton's interviews with Eno:
    Part 1
    Part 2

  • No-one's heard of From, because it's absolutely the worst thing to name a show if you want anybody to be able to search for it.

It's from some of the same people who did Lost, I think. Lots of mysteries, many of which would be resolved if anyone just talked to each like normal humans. But it can be good cheapy, creepy fun.

  • I'm sorry, you're only allowed to say "what the fight? How is it so good???"

But otherwise, yeah - it's a show that really benefits from tight plotting, dedicated performances, an excellent score and some Tony Gilroy & Friends bangers for speeches. I kind of have to stop myself re-watching it (for the millionth time)

  • Excession is my favourite. There's very little cross-over between Culture books, and not all of Iain M Bank's books were set in the Culture (of those, I think I enjoyed The Algebraist the most).

Banks' passing was a huge loss. I don't think there's any other author quite like him.

  • The cast seem very adept at skipping between the more serious stuff and the more goofy stuff. They all seem to have the range, so I imagine there's not going to be "Pierce Brosnan in Mamma Mia / Russell Crowe in Les Misérables"-type situation.

  • Maybe play around with this community. It's a NSFW community with some untagged posts in it.

In my experience, if a user has selected to not show NSFW, then posts in a NSFW community won't show to them (regardless of how the posts are tagged). I've also seen the inverse: NSFW posts from an untagged community with an account that wasn't supposed to see them.

How things are actually display though, is very dependent on what the user is using. They tend to err on the side of caution though (e.g. Voyager blurs everything from lemmynsfw, even the 'celebs' posts that are photos of fully-clothed women)
