  • Wasn't aware of the controversy, what did they do?

Edit: Nevermind found it elsewhere in the comments

  • So glad the team is finding success outside of the escapist

  • The post is American centric and if you wanted some more diverse content just make it instead of complaining and making the place worse overall

  • I think the biggest red flag for me lately has been libertarian because what I've learned that actually means is you're the insane flavor Republican but don't want the bad PR

  • I agree with the sentiment that wages need to be rise to provide a better quality of life.

I do have some questions however, if we did not have a larger working class than retired how could we sustainably fund their retirement?

It's a well-known fact that our population demographics are only getting older. He only way I could see this being sustainable is if you restructured our economic system.

  • I agree, I wish we would target our housing crisis at the root, our outdated zoning laws. The laws only allow low density single family housing.

The ensures car dependency and adds additional cost.

  • It's insane to me that anyone in Canada would hold this opinion given that our economy is on the verge of ruin due to the lack of available labour and the massive amount of retirees we have. Where do they think this money will come from?

  • I know war is hell but in a big existential way I feel even more scared of climate change.

Climate change won't completely end our world but it will make it permanently worse, At least eventually something can come back after war.

  • The correct answer to the issue is to have European zoning with plenty of small groceries stores and bakeries on street corners

  • People criticize Biden plenty, in fact I think those on lemmy are some of his most outspoken critics.

I just think we're kind of backed into a corner because the US electoral system.

Edited my comment to be nicer to the person above me.

  • Everyone thinks about it sometimes but if it's a consistent thought then I think you need to do some self assessment about what makes you happy and what makes you feel like you belong.

  • Just a PSA to any one of his confused by the non sequitural reply it got ninja edited. It originally read that the poster could get certain grocery items cheaper at dollar stores.

  • I'm a systems administrator but I'm always looking for ways to expand my skill set, thanks for pointing me towards these awesome courses.

  • It's not just this, due to the way they make money and the places they target they edge out competitors and exaserbate food deserts while providing nothing to the community.

Wendover Predictions did an excellent video on it: https://youtu.be/vQpUV--2Jao?si=rQIBw2-XZRCWSzy6

  • Fuck all dollar stores and their predatory business models that lead to worse outcomes for the least fortunate.

A perfect microcosm for the failures of capitalism

  • I truly admire the optimism but I think it's also important to understand the hard work and dedication that the Yuzu developers put in.

You're correct that someone probably will fork it and development will continue but it is not simple and it requires a very specialized skill set.

I just think it's important to never take for granted the people who take time out of their lives to give the community something so wonderful.

  • Capitalism corrupts

  • Even Brave uses Chromium as a launching point before all of its customizations.

This in turn gives Google control over web standards because if they choose not to support something or if they implement it in a particular way they effectively govern it's adoption because of their near universal market share.

I'm sure I missed a lot of nuance but this is my best take at explaining it.

  • Oh no I definitely understand what's happening but I just don't think I will change their opinion in any meaningful way.

research shows that people don't change their opinions in the face of facts because political ideology is a fundamentally emotional thing. It's a shame that tribalism is so deeply ingrained in humanity.
