  • totally agree. driver assists are huge for driver safety (probably saved my life when riding with people driving while tired, which was a bad choice on their part but a big part of the reason why it's so important to have them) and Elon trying to make autonomous driving a thing instead of improving the shit we already know is gonna cost lives

  • i think this is why i'm such a fan of driver assists - not so-called "autonomous" driving, but driver assists: they literally help you stay more aware of your surroundings (in your case, blind spot monitoring) so you can make better driving inputs. we should have them as standard by law on every new car, not whatever bullshit sci-fi stuff fElon is trying to get up to

  • when I was working in the residential ISP space some years ago during the FCC credits, we had some basic plans (25/3Mbit, 35/5Mbit) that were entirely or mostly covered by that discount program. it's by no means a flashy number but it gave thousands of our customers access to broadband, and most of them lost the ability to afford it as soon as the discount ended. go California, I hope this works out because it's super important for everyone to have broadband edit: grammar

  • I rode in a 2019 Subaru Ascent (like a big Outback) a few years ago, the lane keep assist was great even back then, not to mention the blind spot monitoring and all that. and it was all included. wtf is Tesla even doing with all that time and money??

  • I am aware that it's wishful thinking. I feel the same way you do, but even an arrest is better than nothing. it will take protests, it will take oversight and everything that comes along with it to fix this, absolutely

  • I've used QubesOS, Tails and Tor all extensively and they are all incredible. based on what I've seen, it's best not to use Tor on its own unless you're entirely sure of how you plan to use it - reason being that misconfiguring it can deanonymize you, so it's best to stick with Tails for sensitive Tor activities and the Tor Browser for less sensitive stuff - Tails forces the whole system to interface with the internet via the Tor network so you don't leak network traffic onto the clearnet when you're doing silly business.

also a little shout out to Orbot which is a Tor router app for Android that will allow you to connect your whole phone over the Tor network (or just a single app). This is huge especially if you're being censored in another country and want to use Signal or another app that doesn't support Tor already.

    happy routing :D
