Nah, if he sticks with it long enough streaming will collapse and a new market will give him plentiful media with a great user experience on the cheap.
Bets on how long he'll have to wait? Cable had a good fifty years...
I largely agree with what you're saying and there definitely is no easy solution. I've never understood why drawings or sex dolls depicting underage people are illegal in some places, as they are victimless crimes.
The issue with aigen that differentiates it a bit from the above is the fidelity. You can tell a doll or an anime isn't real, but in a few years from now it'll b difficult to spot aigen images. This isn't unique to this scenario though, it's going to wreck havok on politics, scams, etc, but there is the potential that real CP comes out from hiding and is somewhat shielded by the aigen.
Of course this is just speculation, I hope it would go the other way around and everyone just jacks off at their computers and CP disappears completely. We need to stop focusing our attention on people with pedophila, get them mental support, and focus on sex offenders who are actually hurting people.
This is the War on Drugs argument all over again, except using porn instead of marijuana as a "gateway".
You're correct that there can be some crossover and some unstable people could have an addiction that gets out of control, but I don't think there's any proof that happens in high enough numbers.
Your original argument was that you'd reduce the amount of cases being manufactured and now you're talking about purposefully breaking your phone to get your money's worth.
You're paying £120 a year plus for something that might happen, plus a deductible if it does. I've never broken a smart phone screen and I've always had a cheap Spigen case, so your numbers make no sense to me and are a waste of money. But that's me, if you're hard on your phones or are constantly breaking screens then maybe it makes sense for you, only you can say.
Again, you do you. I'm just writing this for other people that might see your original comment and think it's the best choice financially.
I fully understand what you're saying, I just don't agree with you on the value. You are ignoring good value cases and screen protectors, inflating the costs there, then not factoring in the initial $200 (or whatever it is in your local) of buying AC+ and only looking at the deductible.
I'm glad it works for you, but I don't think your numbers are sound or agree with you conclusion.
Price wise maybe not, but they were referring to the hardware specs being mid range. Updates have always been Androids biggest issue and continue to drive people to the major brands.
I'm not sure I follow, this is just a regular install. Are you saying you don't agree with the article and want to have Office 365 and all that other stuff installed?
I grew up on Windows, but Microsoft is seriously pushing me towards Linux. Gaming is all that keeps me here. I have a Steam Deck and I love what Valve is doing for gaming on Linux, so I hope that gets better and multiplayer games become possible.
Get something with a little more power. Pi's are reaching outside the price where they make sense these days. You can get an Intel N100 system on AliExpress/Amazon for pretty cheap now and I've got mine running ProxMox hosting all kinds of stuff.
That is not necessarily true. Some base stations use the internet, yes, but not all. For example a Philips hue does not require internet access, nor does Lutron Caseta. As the other person posted, Home Assistant is the absolute best (IMO) way to do everything locally without the internet.
Your system, while it might work for you, does not scale well due to the limited range and reliability of Bluetooth. You'd likely be better off to adopt a more robust protocol like Z-wave, or ZigBee and get a hub that you have full control over.
sigh that last quote about it getting tied up in appeals is the shitty part. It'll hang in limbo and trump will die without ever seeing a consequence. He'll die thinking (and largely correctly) that he won.
Disclaimer: These are obviously over generalizations and don't match all individuals.
Because it's not the age people are against, it's the generation. The boomer generation had some of the most prosperous years in American history and wasted them. The general idea is you're supposed to make the world a better place for the people that come next, and they did the opposite. They cut social systems, defunded education, let public transportation die, outsourced everything, and lined their pockets with investments in oil that are killing the planet.
I won't blame someone for being old, but I will judge them by what they did and supported during their life. And as a whole, the boomers have a lot to answer for.
This is my fear too. No doubt there are great people working at Valve, but Gabe is responsible for how customer first the company is. I too worry that Valve will fall when he's gone.
Valve is my favorite company. Not just because I like video games, but I love the way Gabe runs it. Valve is so customer focused and deserves the "don't be evil" slogan. I am very scared of the day we lose Gabe because it's his vision that drives them. Selling to Microsoft would destroy everything that makes them good.
