  • I'd also argue there's a lot more shit and garbage on the internet that google needs to sift through. Tons of duplicate pages, ad infested websites and whatnot.

SEO optimised webpages are often also ad infested, clickbait webpages.

But yes. I'm using duckduckgo because it actually gives me better search results than google most of the time. So the non-personalized results are better than their personalized results.

Chatgpt has also given me better results when searching for tooling. Looking for wiki alternatives is just page after page of fucking confluence. At least chatgpt manages to list different wiki tools (including confluence ) but I don't have to go through the first 90 google pages.

I need a "distinct" checkbox in my search engine. And a plugin that rates pages based on ad presence and how clickbaity the article looks. Maybe that's a good idea for a new fucking search engine all together.

    Sorry.

  • Wasn't there a guy who turned the series into a movie by remastering it into a 1h30m video. I think I bookmarked that on my Reddit account before Lemmy was around ( or before the whole fuck spez thing anyway. Lemmy has been around longer than that ).

  • I hope it's more stable than the limited test I've been playing. Hopefully comp is not limited to premier, but you can pick the maps you want to play on.

The hitboxes feel really weird. Sometimes it feela like the bullet went straight through people repeatedly ( e.g.: with a scout ) other times I seem to hit something I'm convinced was a fatfingered miss.

  • I agree with the search engine lamenting. In the past I could just paste the terraform resource name in Google and the first hit would be the doc page. Now it doesn't even deliver me with anything useful 90% of the time.

Google search results really are turning/have turned to s***. Ive gotten better search results out of gpt4 than out of google. And all the "best x" or "best alternatives to y" are just clickbait sites nowadays...

Ironically the web worked better without SEO I guess? Either that or all the content just became rubbish to lure people to add infested clickbait sites harvesting information and serving adds.

  • God I have this with so many things. It starts off with some advertised please like and subscribe garbage and you need to fast forward through the video to actually find the relevant 5 seconds answer in a 10 minute video.

Even for fucking video games there's more videos than just a simple screenshot of a map that shows you what hill to run to and where to go from there.

After which their algorithm keeps suggesting more of these idiotic clips because you watched one.

  • I'll agree that bullying is probably the wrong term.

Where I'm from you can't just force people to change work location. If they want to move the company they can, but it has to be within x km of the preclvious building or get agreement from a certain percentage of employees. Otherwise it counts as a collective firing of the workforce.

Politicians should act on this stuff tbh.

  • I enjoy a good Heroes or the storm. It's literally the only MOBA I can get my head around. No items, last hit and the like. Nore than one map and I only play Aram.

Some CSGO with the friends occasionally ( read - getting carried ).

I still have to finish ff7 ( near the end ) and intergrade ( not started ). Sifu is collecting dust as well. That was pretty interesting as well...

I bought diablo 4 and while I enjoyed the story ( although it takes them way too long to give you a horse ), I am not up for that grind. I still feel I'd circle back to d2 for grinding than this.

  • To be fair the way it worked in d2 was great. You had a closed battle.net which worked through official servers and an open battle.net where your local/twinked/hacked/whatever char could run rampant and play online with friends.

The modded versions of diablo 2 by replacing actual gamefiles is also still possible if you play it off line/local lan.

GaaS just sucks in that regard. A lot of great things came about by modding like in warcraft 3. Or even the superhero/Warcraft mods in counter strike 1.6

Or the max Payne Kung Fu and whatnot mods. I had hours of fun on that. It wasn't the way the developers intended it to be played. But who cares.

  • You'll probably enjoy top secret! in that case.

The naked gun movies are based on a series called "police squad". There are so many gems going on in the background that you'll notice new things rewatching it. It's also with Leslie Nielson.

Definitely check it out if you haven't :).

  • Driving 120km/h on the highway, upwind, uphill, airco usage all decrease your battery more than driving in ideal conditions.

The WLTP is a scam number because ( the way I see it ) it's how far your car can drive on a perfectly straight piece of road with a slight breeze from behind in the perfect temperature. Conditions which are never met in real life.

In my old diesel car the usage between 120 and 90 km/h on a highway was neglectable. It's the difference between 5.5/100km and 5.7l/100km.

Driving 90km/h on a highway vs 120 will probably easily make 100km range difference in a Tesla...

There's a button on the Tesla where you fan see the estimated range based on your current power usage as well as what you're losing power too ( acceleration/wind/uphill/... ).

I'm not defending it. It's just not as straightforward because it depends on more than your petrol car.

Tesla model 3 long-range has a WLTP of ~600km. I think the furthest I'd give it is 450-500 in summer and ~ 400-450 in winter ( on a 100% charge). Normally you'd only charge it to 90% to increase battery lifetime unless you're going on long trips.

Not to mention the power your car loses just standing on your porch...

  • A Tesla can supercharge from 10 to 90 in about 30 minutes if you tell it to pre-heat the battery while* driving. If you're going 120 on the highway I'm assuming you should get ~400-500 out of it ( depending on how heavily you're loaded and how much that impacts your aerodynamics ).

I can't say for non-tesla cars as I've not driven one before.

When charging an EV it seems the last 10% takes longer than the first 90. The more throughput the car cam take the faster it will charge. Unfortunately there's car companies ( like Skoda ) who sell higher charge throughputs separately. I think teslas model 3 can take around 150kw?

I'm not sure on the exact terms( like kw ). I always get them mixed up. Sorry if it doesn't make sense
