I actually looked into Wiim and it's really great, but you need to open the music in their app in order to do mutiroom. You can't just "cast" from Spotify or whatever.

Yep that's exactly what I did. The bulbs flashed and appeared to be reset. Like I said the official Hue app can't even detect them without the serial method.

I am going to figure out Zigbee2Mqtt and see if that works, but it feels weird to install a new addon and migrate everything over when Home Assistant has that functionality baked in. Also like I said even the official Hue App and Bridge can't detect the bulbs, I need to enter the serial. I was hoping ZHA or MQTT had an "enter serial" method.

Thanks I'll give it a shot. I was trying to avoid more add-ons and the rest of my network is already configured with ZHA. But like I said even the official Hue Bridge/app can't discover these bulbs without the serial number method.

Thanks, but I don't think that's it. I rebooted and also tried adding a new container to NGINX with a DuckDNS url and it won't load on the local network.

Hm, pinging works and shows my (external) IP. But no device I've tested can load the duckdns URL.

EDIT: Two of the URLS show the local IP replying when pinged. Not configured any differently so I'm not sure what's going on there. This was a PiHole thing apparently

Yes and DuckDNS is working flawlessly everywhere except that the network the server is also connected to.

Arris G36 but I don't believe that's the issue as it was working for years before now and on a different router too.

Thanks for the response but restarting the modem/router didn't change anything, nor did creating a new container/NGINX config.

My exact experience too. Fedora "just works". I especially like the immutable varieties for even more "just works (and continues to just works)-iness"

Windows 11 no longer "just working" is what made me finally take Linux seriously as an option and I am so glad I did.

I genuinely think it is ready for prime time. As I said elsewhere the concept of immutable distros is a game changer for those of us who like to customize but hate the command line

Immutable distros help tremendously with the "It just works (and doesn't stop just worksing)" aspect. Fedora Kinote is what finally allowed me to transition from Windows. Literally zero issues for over eight months now and I am not a super techie person. I hate the command line and need GUIs.

Honestly I think an immutable KDE distro is going to be the windows killer for pretty much anyone looking to switch. It's literally better than Windows in every way.

There is so much you can do about it, here's a simple suggestion: promote open censorship-resistant communication systems like Lemmy.
