  • I think he's just kind of a jackass, and he got himself into something he couldn't get out of - like he's always been able to do - and now he's desperately throwing shit at the wall to fix it. He knows it's not going well, and maybe he knows that everything he's trying won't actually help, but desperate people don't reason well.

I'd pity him if he weren't also human garbage.

  • We don't know that Putin is willing to order a nuclear strike if he gets desperate. They want everyone to think that because they hope it makes people afraid of interfering in their shitty behavior.

Apparently, it's effective on at least some people.

  • How else is he going to eat the baby's soul, though?

  • I'm not sure about that. The trend in the industry overall has been towards separate designers and specialized fab operators, in part because the capital costs and expertise for running a modern semiconductor foundry are incredibly high. ARM, AMD, Qualcomm, IBM anre all fabless. Samsung makes their own chips, but they're essentially ARM reference designs. Apple's expanded their own in house design team, but even with their enormous piles of money don't want to take on the risk of running their own fabs.

Then look at Intel's constant stumbling towards newer process nodes vs the guys who do contact work. AMD and IBM spun off their chip manufacturing into GlobalFoundries, and AMD now uses TSMC for their CPU cores and chiplet packaging. Even Intel is talking about using TSMC for producing some of their chips.

(I know technically Intel now counts as a contract foundry, but all of the major names that were part of the IFS announcement have backed away. I'm skeptical)

  • Poor sad Strelkov is very disappointed in reddit. Also, his impending torture and death in a Moscow sub-basement.

  • I expect to see Rogozin strapped to one of these babies, providing terminal guidance, like Gravity's Rainbow made real (and shitty).

  • Multiple independent warheads that can hit different targets. Also, they can actually carry up 12 warheads each , but the US limits the number deployed to meet treaty obligations. And each boat can has 20 missile tubes.

It's a lot of Armageddon in a small space.

  • Watch them fuck up so bad they hit the Russian embassy in Beijing.

  • Modi, imo, has no problem with angry religiously motivated mobs, so long as it's the Hindutva people committing the violence. He's just making the noises the expected noises for the sake of propriety - don't expect anything to change markedly.

  • Yeah, desecrating people's religious texts or symbols is an asshole move, but that's the point - they're being assholes because it reliably gets a rise out of large swathes of the Muslim world. If everyone just ignored them, they wouldn't bother anymore.

  • We stopped doing awesome things and that was stupid, and I'm glad we're getting back to it.

  • That doesn't really seem like a problem, except maybe for the Russians.

  • I think they used to include RADAR in their cars, which is probably better for handling weather conditions that would interfere with light based systems (fog, snow, rain, etc.). They took it out, with Musk claiming they could do FSD with just cameras. Probably it was about cost or supply, and I think they decided to add it back recently.

  • Projection so powerful, you could show movies on the moon's surface.

  • Noooooo! Not my favorite doomposting war criminal!
