I've been fighting these damn blue spike vines.

That is actually pretty solid. Ordered one.

Expensive is a little bit a problem. Mostly I don't want to spend money.

I'm going to try a Zimaboard for the backup server. It should be fine. I might need a USB hub but whatever, performance isn't a wiggle there.

Absolutely. I use ipv6 so I can directly reach all my servers. For public facing things I put it on an ipv4 address but for my own internal stuff, ipv6.

Yeah...the twenty year olds are depressed. That isn't an indication of a mental health problem, that is an indication of an accurate understanding of the current world.

I found those a little depressing. Like everything is kinda awful. I enjoyed his The Final Architecture series more.

Pandora's Star might be a good one. They are a little past the discovery but do look back on it.
