I label all of my notes like 'YYYYMMDD_some_title_here' so they automatically sort by when I made them when sorted by name, or YYYYMMDDHHmm if the note won't be getting a title (such as daily notes or notes that I made too quickly to care about titling)

It wasn't a bad movie, I actually liked it a lot - but the book is significantly better and the movie left out a lot. If I had read the book before watching the movie I would probably have hated the movie tbh.

Also even picking that book to make into a movie was a mistake, enders game was only written to give backstory for speaker for the dead which is much better than the enders game book but never made it to becoming a movie itself

I think you'd like The Sunlit Man by Brandon Sanderson! Came out a month or so ago, definitely worth the read. The setting is a planet where the sun/sunlight kills, literally hot enough to melt the rock of the planet as it goes. Very good book imo

My wedding was my wife and I going to the courthouse on pi day, promising we weren't related, signing the marriage document, then having a pizza pie for dinner and apple pie for dessert, total cost ~$85 (including $30 marriage license).

A couple months later we went to Hawaii for a week and a half with both of our parents and my wifes best friend. Landed and spent a day puttering around since we were all tired, next day we had a ceremony on a gorgeous little beach (millionaires housing community beach, still public access like all beaches but hard to find and not much parking by design) officiated by my dad, had pictures taken by a photographer who also got the permit flowers etc, and spent the remaining 8 days honeymooning/vacationing. Our parents paid for the condo we stayed at as their wedding present ($1500 of $4500 would've been our share) and paid for most of the food while we were there. Total cost was $900 for a photographer (worth they were great and definitely worth it), $500 for plane tickets since we got them early and went in early May when the islands aren't too busy, figure $300 in food and activities that we did without our parents . Wife's dress was $600 including alterations.

Total cost ended up being under $2500 paid over 6 months or so. We got married, had pictures, and a week and a half vacation and honeymoon in Hawaii for less than most people pay for a random venue for 8 hours in the off season.

What you're looking for is forced subtitles! They're subtitles that only have text for different languages/overly quiet ones

To all the comments saying their junk has been caught in their zipper, I know a guy that swears by jock straps. Says they don't bunch up or make you sweat a bunch since it's basically just a strip of fabric over/around Wingus and the Ping Pong boys with some elastic bands to keep it there. I tried one once and threw it away after a day of wearing it so they're not for everyone, but could be something to look into.

At least on arch it'll tell you there's an update and prompt you to install the deb file but you can just update it with pacman and you're good to go. Usually end up doing my pacman -Syu when discord yells that it needs an update

For this situation - my wife and I got coop home goods pillows. Expensive, but sooo worth it. You can add or remove filling from them for firmer or softer, they're not solid memory foam so you won't overheat as easily, and just overall very comfy pillows. A high quality mattress is a great investment too, unfortunately they're expensive. I got a purple mattress 3 or 4 years ago and it ruined regular and memory foam mattresses for me because it's squishy enough to mold to me and be comfy but still give my back support it needs, and is cool enough that I don't overheat. Pillows and mattress were not cheap, but I'd pay double what I did with how much they helped my neck and back at night

I don't use readonly with dbeaver, but I do have the prod servers set to automatically make transactions and have to hit a button to commit. Almost certain it asks confirmation that I want to make the changes to prod which is nice too (I rarely have to touch our sql server prod)

I'm a data engineer that occasionally has to work in sql server, I use dbeaver and have our prod servers default to auto-wrap in transactions and I have to push a button and confirm I know it's prod before it commits changes there, it's great and has saved me when I accidentally had a script switch servers. For the sandbox server I don't have that on because the changes there don't matter except for testing, and we can always remake the thing from scratch in a few hours. I haven't had an oppsie yet and I hope to keep that streak

Good old overwatch

Time machine + $100 for a lifetime subscription to nzbgeek. I got a lifetime subscription a couple months before they removed the option, only had it for a few months now but well worth the money already. Most of my shows, movies, and music come from it (supplemented by torrenting)

There were a few hyper competitive people who were always trying to finish everything first to flex on everyone, they hated me because I finished projects earlier (I helped people that were having issues when I finished, they caught on and I got some snotty messages about being a try hard... I just had a lot of free time at work and the projects were easy to me). Along with a few of these in each class, I had some people that were just moochers that actually sucked and just copied other people and constantly did leetcode challenges or whatever, I ended up with 2 of them in my senior project and they did almost nothing even when asked.

That said, a very very large amount of the people I met were awesome supportive people, both in my comp sci classes and upper div math classes for my minor. We were remote for all but 1 semester of my degree and I lived an hour away from the university so I didn't end up making any lasting friends, but at least once a week I had study/help/hangout sessions with people I met in group projects, people they met, etc. A few people would show up to copy code and answers, but nearly everyone was great, and would pitch in to help others in the group if needed. There will always be snotty, lazy, and competitive people in every field, but they are (almost) always the extreme monority

In terms of electricity consumption, it's still not going to be huge, just was noted in case you wanted to go smaller. You can almost certainly go smaller, but at the same time if you already have the hardware it's not going to be useful to sell it second hand and buy new hardware that has less performance.

Hosting static websites at home is fine if you really want to, but for anything dynamic and/or that will have a lot of users, get a vps (basically a server that you pay for storage and compute resources on and can use remotely how you like, including hosting stuff like mastodon and lemmy instances)
