    1. I think so.
    2. That's unclear but my take is that this is an expression of the distress felt by the employees, and perhaps the only possible outlet for their feelings. I suspect that it's more likely the action of one or two people rather that some kind of collectively approved signal.
    3. I just don't know. I'm not even American but I feel very discombobulated.
  • I don't think shock and alarm really captures my thoughts.

I was deeply concerned by the prospect of a Trump presidency prior to November 5th. I've been despairing since then. Watching the current shit storm unfold I think I'm probably just discombobulated.

  • Yeah most commenters here just read the headline I think.

The govt just wanted the loan so they did the thing.

They're still big into bitcoin. Seems like their holdings have gone well (only because Trump won), but their other projects haven't been successful by any metric.

People haven't taken up crypto as a currency, it's just the pres using federal resources to invest in crypto. He's been lucky so far.

  • Sorry for your loss.

Religion sucks so much, especially the more dogmatic ones. Mormonism is gross.

One insight I would offer is that categorising people as "good" or "not good" may not be helpful. I suspect that your dad probably invests a lot of effort in being a good man, he's just unable to acknowledge that his perspective has been corrupted.

We judge ourselves by our intentions but others by their actions.

It's not wrong to never speak to him again, but maybe this will make the mourning easier.

  • I think "dictatorship" describes a style of government which may not really apply.

The POTUS is obviously intended to have absolute control hence the existence of executive orders. However, like most of the US constitution it relies on the assumption that the people wouldn't knowingly elect an autocrat.

That is to say executive orders are intended to be used sparingly, with great caution, not for things like declaring a new official measurement for Obamas penis.

So while the US govt probably wouldn't be considered a dictatorship generally, Trumps behaviour is certainly autocratic.
