  • It's absolutely fine if you and others aren't concerned.

However, the study I linked says that more than 10% of Covid patients develop long covid. Of those cognitive impairment is measurable 141 days post-infection on average, and 26% show impairment after 9 months. We're really not talking about a small portion of a small portion.

As discussed in the other publication I linked, the best way to mitigate your risk is with vaccinations.

  • What's the actual motivation for that though?

Does he genuinely believe that vaccines are actually more harmful than beneficial?

I can imagine why an individual might be hesitant to have a vaccination, but it's obvious that populations are more productive when everyone is vaccinated.

  • I'm in Australia. We're not any better than the US or Britain though. Sliding to the right, no climate action, concentration of wealth, et cetera. We didn't just elect Trump, but I fear that time is coming.

I think in these troubled times you just have to focus on the things you can control and practice tolerance and serenity for the rest.

In practice this means investing your time and effort in performing the ideals you want to uphold. Whether that's saying hello to a neighbor donating to a charity, or regularly volunteering for a cause you care about.

At this point, it's strong charities and community groups that will mitigate the challenges that will emerge in the coming years.

  • This is my understanding, and rightly or wrongly it's the theory underlying the artistic license supporting popular fiction like the star trek and star wars universes.

Obviously my views are supported by confirmation bias, but in the only ecosystem we know of the hominid body plan is the most successful.

Things would be different in different environments, like higher gravity or ocean planets, but in the absence of any data about those the safe bet is that most intelligent life looks similar to us.

  • That's what I thought.

The core tenets of far right in the UK and Germany just wouldn't seem that relevant to a wealthy person. It's not like he's going to interact with migrants in any way.

What is it about the right that benefits him though? Small government and reduced regulation?

  • Even in places with good infrastructure and generally non-murderous drivers it still gets very sketchy.

The majority of drivers just havent ridden a bike since they were 3, and just don't understand that you're part of the traffic, as though you can magically just slip around between all the cars.

  • Obviously there are exceptions but the vast majority of moderators are fief lords stroking their own self worth.

It's not really surprising when you think about the time they contribute, and the very few potential motivators. I think most people would enjoy moderating a community they're passionate about but most people lack the motivation required to do it consistently.

  • Can I add fashion to this?

100% willing to admit I'm the weird one here, or maybe I'm just old enough now, but holy cow some trends are just daft and make people look like absolute idiots.

I live in a regional / remote area where fashion tends to take several years to arrive... presently all the studly men are wearing their socks pulled up? It's just silly.

... and don't get me started on sunglasses and frames. IDK how to describe the current trend... it's like a huge single piece of plastic instead of 2 discrete lenses.
